Why Don't You Believe Me?

It was a snowy Sunday night and I had been up late with my sister watching TV shows. I was laying in bed about to go to sleep when I got a text from my friend Chan. We had been friends pretty much our whole lives and spent pretty much every weekend with each other.

Chan: "Sorry I missed watching TV with you tonight.."

The text read. Chan and I loved watching shows together even if we weren't together we'd usually Skype or Facetime each other. This time we couldn't do that since he decided to spend a part of break with his family in Australia and didn't have time to call me.

Jeongmi: "Why are you up??"
Chan: "Well why are you up??"
Jeongmi: "It's like four in the morning over there Chan go to bed"
Chan: "Geez okay I just wanted to tell you that I'm coming home today!"
Jeongmi: "Wait really?!"
Chan: "Yes stupid. I'll be flying in at around 5:45 this evening"
Jeongmi: "You better bring me back something good dude otherwise I'mma be disappointed lol"
Chan: "Fine.. I expect to see you at the gate though"
Jeongmi: "Deal. Now goodnight"
Chan: "Lol goodnight"

I kinda really missed him and I was excited to know that I only have to suffer through most of today and then he'll be back. I put down my phone, smiled and went to bed.

I woke up at about 10 am later that morning with a smile on my face. I went downstairs to go eat something for breakfast when I got another text from Chan.

Chan: "Any final requests before I leave?"
Jeongmi: "Vegemite for the people we don't like"
Chan: "Yes Ma'am"

I laughed to myself as I sat down next to my sister Heemi. "What's gotten into you this morning?" She asked through a mouthful of food, "Chan's coming home later!" I said excitedly, "Wait really?" Heemi asked. I nodded, "Dude last night was so boring without him" I said getting myself some food. "I know right? I missed his snarky comments about random things the characters did" Heemi said, "He'd make a good son-in-law" My mom said in a sing song voice. "Mom.. Don't. Please" I said mildly annoyed. "Oh come on Jeongmi, Mom has been trying to get you guys to like each other sing you were fourteen" Heemi recalled. I rolled my eyes and started eating.

A couple hours passed and it was about lunchtime but I wasn't really hungry so I decided to go get ready to go out. So I showered and did a little bit of makeup and put on some black pants and a black sweater since it was cold and snowing still.

I came back downstairs and grabbed my keys. "Where are you going?" Heemi asked turning away from her phone. "To the store. Why? Do you need something?" I replied as I put on my black boots. Heemi huffed and went back to her phone, I shrugged and headed out the door.

I drove to the grocery store and looked around for a little bit, 'Chan likes pineapple juice right?' I internally asked myself. I nodded remembering how many times he's had it around me. I put a few boxes into my basket and went to go get the things I needed before going to check out.

After I had gone to the store I didn't know what to do and I didn't really wanna waste more gas just driving around for no reason. 'The mall is close to the airport' I thought 'Maybe I can get Chan and I matching hoodies..' the more I thought about it the dumber it started to sound so I went to the mall anyways.

I walked around browsing some of the stores but I didn't like any of the hoodies. I decided to check a couple more stores before I left since it was about 4 now. That's when I came across some Twice hoodies.. I laughed to myself, "Oh my goodness Chan loves twice this is legit perfect" I whispered to myself as I looked at them. I decided to buy them as I thought it would be funny if he had something like that.

I put everything in the backseat before I started driving to the airport which was only about 10 minutes away so I'd be there at around 5:20-5:25 which would give me about 20 minutes before the plane landed.

Once I got there I parked my car in the cellphone parking area which was a little far from the airport but I didn't really care. I got out and went to the gate Chan said he'd be landing at, there weren't many people there so I decided to sit down and wait for him to text me that he landed or something.

Chan: "I landed!"
Jeongmi: "Already?! It's only 5:30!"
Chan: "We landed early I guess"
Jeongmi: "I'll keep my eye out for you"
Chan: "Gottcha"

I looked up from my phone and stood up and the plane was just pulling in. As they Opened the doors some of the flight attendants came out followed by a small wave of people. The waves of people kept dragging on and it was getting harder for me to see if Chan had come out yet. I jumped a couple times to see if that would help and it did! I saw the top of Chan's head and trust me I know the top of his head like I know the back of my hand.

I rushed over to him trying to be polite about getting around people. Finally I was close enough to see him. "Chan!" I called over the crowds of people, he looked up and started looking around. "I'm over here!" I called as I started jumping again. His head spun around as he followed the sound of my voice.

Finally we made eye contact and he started moving his way through the crowds to me. Once he finally got to me he hugged me and spun me around. "Don't you think this is kinda overdramatic? You've been gone for like five days" I said muffled by his embrace. "No I do not think it's overdramatic, I missed you" Chan answered. I let go of him and looked up at his face. "I have something for you" I smiled, "As do I my ride to be" Chan smiled back.

Once we got to my car I grabbed a bag out of the backseat and handed it to him before we both got in. "Okay open it" I said excitedly, Chan reached into the bag and pulled out the hoodie I bought. "Is- Is this a Twice hoodie?!" He asked, "Yeah.. Do you like it?" I asked a little worried. "No.. Cause I love it!" Chan said. I smiled as I pulled out of my parking spot.

We were silent for a second until Chan broke the silence, "Do you wanna go to the park tomorrow?" He asked. "Why?" I asked, "Cause I wanna talk about my trip" Chan said as if I should've already known. "Why don't you talk about it now?" I asked, "Cause I wanna talk to you.." Chan replied. I didn't answer for a second. "Oh.. Um.. There's pineapple juice in the backseat if you want some" I said changing the topic. Chan looked at the backseat and reached for it, "Do you want some?" He asked me. I shook my head, "It's for you" I said.

We continued talking until we got to his house. "Do you wanna stay for a bit?" Chan asked, I thought about it and then realized that if we were gonna go to the park tomorrow I needed sleep. "Not tonight Chan.. We're going to the park tomorrow remember?" I said. Chan looked a little disappointed that I didn't want to stay but happy that we were going to the park tomorrow, "I'll pick you up at noon okay?" He said, I nodded and he waved goodbye to me as he walked into his house.

I drove home and ate something before going to bed cause I didn't eat anything since breakfast. I thought about what we were gonna do at the park and if we should wear the Twice hoodies I bought us or if that would be weird and we'd look like a couple before I fell asleep.
