The release of Sheer Heart Attack brought with it the band's first real taste of chart success and with that, brought more fans and they become more and more in demand; gigs were more frequent, the crowds were bigger and they were loving every second of it.

Their first single, Killer Queen, shot all the way to number two which landed them a slot on Top of the Pops (which Roger would go on to say was a rather boring day out).

But what was really exciting, was the world tour that they had set out on. They'd just finished the European leg of the tour and once they'd had a couple of months back in London, enjoying the holidays, they were back on a plane and off to America.

Only this time, Roxanne was going with them.

Yep, Danny had allowed her to take three weeks off. Sure, it meant that she had barely any holidays left but in her opinion, it was worth it and her parents were taking their own holiday down to London so they could look after Casper and Amos for them.

John had warned her to take that jet-lag would quickly take its toll but stubbornly, she said that she'd be fine, that she could handle anything that her body threw at her.

She was wrong and five days into the trip, she had passed out on across Brian's lap as the bus rumbled toward their next destination and Roger had immediately taken a photo of, saying that she wasn't going to get to forget about it.

But it was exciting! Roxanne was excited. She wasn't an experienced traveller but she enjoyed the feeling of being somewhere completely new and she knew that the boys found it amusing when she would press her face against the bus window when they drove into a new city.

The one thing that did take some getting used to, was the bus. She wasn't used to being in such close quarters with them all the time but having been on the road a week, she found that she quite liked that too.

She liked being dragged off the bus to go shopping with Freddie and Roger or learning about whatever city they were in's history and culture and she loved the quick dinner dates that she and John manage to slip in before they have to get on the road again.

It was the start of their second week now and they were in New Jersey, where they'd stopped; John, Freddie, Roger and Rox immediately got off the bus so they could go check on the venue but Brian stayed put, wanting to get stuck into the new book he'd bought.

She quickly got bored though - it seems that all the venues that they've played so far all look the same and so, she abandons them, telling the three of them that she's going back to the bus to sit with Brian.

It's starting to get dark as she gets back on and she's disappointed to see the guitarist spread out on the back couch, arm dangled over the side and book forgotten. He'd fallen asleep.

"Bless," she whispers, picking up the book to put on the table - where Freddie had left his bottle of black nail polish and she gets an idea.

She knows that Brian normally has white polish on and it's a whole bit that he and Freddie do with the crowd but hey, it's harmless to paint them black.

If he doesn't like it, he could always get it off.

Brian's surprisingly quite a heavy sleeper so he doesn't stir when Roxanne gently -and slowly- moves the hand that's touching the floor and moves it so it's resting on her knee. She just hopes he doesn't move.

Normally, he just does one hand but she's enjoying this too much that she decides she's going to do the other one too and she finds it quite therapeutic. She has to do two coats though because the polish isn't the best and is quite thin.
