"EXPULSO!" The room filled with a bright blue light and a loud bang rattled the entire house. I shielded my eyes for a moment, but when I uncovered them, the wizard was gone. I blinked away the memories of what had just transpired, wishing I could forget what I saw, forget what I heard.

I became an Auror soon after leaving Hogwarts and everyone gave me hell because they thought I was still wet behind the ears, years later, I'm one of the ministry's top Aurors and no one questions my abilities anymore. I was quickly taken under one of the ministry's most accomplished Aurors' wing, mentored, and I quickly rose high in the ranks, apprehending more death eaters in a single year than anyone else in the ministry. Now, at the age of twenty-four, I've come across the one case that could send me straight to the top of the Auror's office and make me Head Auror, my lifelong dream.

The latest case I was working on was supposed to be an open-shut case on lingering death eaters from You-Know-Who's followers, but it lead to a much more interesting discovery, something more alarming than expected. " Miss Firethron!" A squeaky voice called out to me. I looked toward the doorway and raised my wand, but I lowered it and sighed at the sight of a house elf looking everything over in horror.

"Relax, you don't have to clean anything, Mindy." I grunted as I carefully dragged myself over to the nearest wall and propped myself up against it, holding my leg in pain.

"Miss Firethron, what happened?"

"Never mind that, I need you to do me a favor and find Alastor; tell him it's urgent."

"But what about you, Miss Firethron?"

"I'll be fine, now go." Mindy gave me a nervous look before snapping her fingers and disappearing into thin air. My eyes began to grow heavy as I tried to fight the urge to sleep. I don't know how long I was out, but the sudden nudge caused me to jolt forward and raise my wand, but I was quickly held back by a larger figure. "EXPEL—"

"Easy, Firethron." A voice warned.

"Alastor?" I panted with relief and lowered my wand.

"Ya sent yer house elf, didn't ya?" I looked across the room and Mindy, who was cowering behind a chair.

"I'm sorry."

"Don't be, I wouldn't've been a good mentor if ya weren't paranoid by now." Alastor knelt down beside me and looked me over. "Are ya hurtin' anywhere?"

"Just my leg; he got me right in the knee before he tried to run." Alastor gently lifted my leg onto his own so he could inspect it.

"Could be fractured, I can't tell." Alastor took out his wand and aimed it at my knee. "Ferula." A long band of bandages shot out from the end of his wand and wrapped around my knee. "It'll do ya until we get ya ta St. Mungo's."

"I can't go there, I need to get to Hogwarts."

"Look at ya, Firethron! You're busted up real bad, yer father is in pieces, ya need ta go ta St. Mungo's." I looked around at the bits and pieces of the wizard that I had fought. My father...of all people who I thought was on the Ministry's side, why was it that my father was the spy? No, I couldn't think about it, it was bad enough that I was gonna have to face the ministry and tell them how I blew my father up as it is, but there were more pressing matters to attend to.

I carefully lifted my wand and aimed it outwards. "Accio Wiggenweld Potion." A small vial suddenly rushed zoomed out from the hallway and into the living room and into my hand. Before Alastor could protest, I downed the potion, gagging at the horrid taste.

"Are ya mad, Firethron?" Alastor growled.

"I need to get to Hogwarts."

"And I told ya—"
