"What do you mean you don't know, didn't you use to come here after school or something?"

"Oh yeah! Gee now that I recall that guy right there is named Joe and we used to play uno together, " I said pointing to a random glass cell behind me.

"That's not funny," Alexis protestsed trying to hide her smile.

"It's a little funny," I half muttered stone faced then continued to pick up the pace. His name really is Joe.

We reached the end of the hall where a large glass dome stood. To our right and left were two seperate paths with more cells. However, this one was empty. I skimmed through it for any sign of Kay. Hair string, piece of clothes, something. But to my disadvantage there was nothing.

Then we heard foot steps.

"Lexi!"

"On it!" We stepped back with our backs to the corner of where the intersection just started.

In front of us approached none other than my father. He was with a scientist as they both had clipboards in their hands.

Son of a bitch

"Well Mr. Falton I managed to finish my lab report on her though she is quite the fighter as you can tell." He pointed to the empty glass that I was looking at before.

"Son of a bitch," he muttered clenching his jaw.

Like father like son.

"I'm sorry sir but I can assure you I did the best I can."

My father slapped the clipborad out of his hands then pinned him to the glass.

"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't fire you!" He scoffed.

I see Alexis put her hand over her mouth as she witnessed my father's rage for the first time in her life. I tried telling her but one could only believe so much with words alone.

"Sir I have her blood sample, that's why you shouldn't fire me, its because I have her blood sample," he squirmed trying to free loose of my father's grip.

My father slowly put the scientist down.

This time I was the one enraged. What do they mean they have her blood?

"Well then I guess I'm sorry," he tried to dismiss patting the scientist and gaining recomposure.

"Its okay sir, but what should we do now. Shouldn't your son on his way to come save her?" he asked bendind down to pick up his clipboard.

"Ah! You're right! Thanks for reminding me," he pivotted then without skipping a beat Lex's shield broke.

We locked eyes before the whole room froze.

Lexi stood still face in shock. It was similar to that of the scidntist whose mouth was wide open getting ready to gasp.

It was just me and my father locked in a Midwestern cowboy showdown.

"You really thought I didn't notice you and Alexis standing there?" He taunted raising a single eyebrow, "Like I said I know all your tricks."

"Where is she?" I ignored cutting to the chase.

"How would I know?" He asked pointing at the empty glass.

"Cut the bs you of all people would know how to track someone even the most untrackable."

"Now you're just giving me too much credit, but in absolute honesty I don't know where she is. Besides even if I did do you really think I'd let her on the loose after taking so long to capture her. You know what she's capable of. You know how much I value powerful assets."
