I didn't fall asleep that night, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't seem to lay still. The sun hadn't risen yet and the careers, pls Isaac, were still fast asleep. This was my chance.

I snuck down the tree, carefully placing my feet on the sturdier branches and landing on the grass with a small thump. Isaac began to stir in his sleep, my hand slowly inched for the knife in my waistband, holding my breath and releasing it when he soon stopped.

There was nothing stopping me from killing all four of them right now and taking all their supplies, but I still found myself struggling. This is exactly what Alicia had spoken to me about earlier before the games, the best way to win a fight was to avoid having one; heavy sleeper, slit their throat while they're sleeping. if they're thirsty, poison their drink.

As I crouched down beside Maeve, she still managed to look angry while sleeping, her face caked in dried blood and small cuts. With a shaky hand I slowly inched the knife towards her neck, my mind was screaming for me to do it, but my body physically couldn't.

I pulled back, tiptoeing over the sleeping bodies and shoving bandages, shirts, water and any food items I could grab before running off to find Piper. Maeve and Isaac weren't gone for long, so she had to be somewhere near here.

I slowed down in a small clearing, turning around in circles hoping to catch a glimpse of her. The sun was rising fast, time wasn't on my side.

"Piper! Where are you?" I called out over and over again, desperate to hear her voice.

In the distance was a strangled cry, I spun around and ran towards the noise spear in hand. The cries became louder and louder and I soon realised it was my name that was being said, it was Piper.

She was sprawled out on her side, her left thigh was soaking wet with blood. She reached an arm out to me as I came closer, her forehead was glistening and her face was pale.

Piper opened her mouth to speak but all that came out was a sickly groan.

"I'm here now, it's okay. You're going to be okay," I said, holding onto her shoulder.

"Don't leave me, please," she croaked, her eyes glistening in the darkness.

"I'm not leaving you, I'm here to fix you up," I smiled, pulling my bag and taking out a handful of supplies.

"She's coming back," Piper said, trying to look around.

"Maeve. I know," I rolled her over onto her back, I made a cut in her pants with my knife to better access the wound.
