Eversince the day I was born, the world around me has always been black and white. I have never seen one color in my entire life. My world is entirely lifeless and it sucks.
My mom always told me that my world will be colorful when I finally found my soulmate. She knows because that's what happened to her. Her world was once black and white but everything gained its color when she met Dad. It's also the same as Dad, everything around him is black and white until he met Mom.
My parents are happy with each other. They always radiate this positive light of happiness and contentment that whenever I see them smile to each other, it makes me smile too.
My parents' love story mesmerised me so much that I wanted to find my soulmate. Even if I have to travel the whole universe. I want to feel that kind of happiness too, together with the person I'll be spending the rest of my life with.
"Someday, you'll find your soulmate." my mom will always quote and I believe her because I know I'll eventually find my soulmate. If others can meet their soulmates then I can too.

"What are you painting again?" I heard my best friend's voice. I put down the paintbrush and looked at her, leaning on the doorframe with a grin plastered on her face.
I shrugged. "The usual." I answered as I shifted back to the unfinished painting. I heard my best friend letting out a cute laugh before skipping all the way from the door to me.
Even I see things black and white, that doesn't stop me from doing the hobby that I love the mostㅡpainting. Painting was the only way where I can express myself in any form. I paint to express my feelings, usually towards to the soulmate that I will meet someday.
I usually paint moments that I would like to spend with my soulmate: sitting on the beach watching the sunset, cuddling on the couch, or a walk on the park. But instead of painting two humans, I paint two ginger cats. Ginger cats because I love them and I can't draw humans.
So my paintings are the moments that I wanted to spend with my soulmate, with two ginger cats symbolising me and my soulmate. My best friend finds the ginger cats cute when they're together, either cuddling to each other or just simply standing side by side.
Despite of being unable to see colors, I was able to paint objects to their correct color. Thanks to color labels and my parents educating me about colors and changing my crayons so that I could color things properly.
But sometimes, I color things incorrectly. It makes the painting much more interesting and I kind of like it that way.
With my attention finally returned ti my unfinished painting, I dipped the paintbrush to the light orange paint and softly stroked it on the smooth canvas, coloring the cat's fur.
"So..." my best friend began and I can tell with that tone that she has something very important to tell me.
"A childhood friend of mine from the province came yesterday and I want to show him around the city after school," she told me as I keep nodding to every word she says so that she knows I'm listening despite of doing something.
