CJ Flint
3 and 1/2 months later...
It's almost three o'clock now. Mike had left to go to work long ago leaving me to amuse myself. I lay back and think about how weird it has been to have not lived with Cheyenne for this long. I've been living with Mike for almost two months and she has been with Scott. It has been just over a year since we have moved to the big city. There has been no other contact or sign of my father, hopefully meaning that he thinks that we left after he blew up the bank and set our apartment on fire.
The damages of the fire had cost me all of the money I had saved up from working at the company, but since Mike took me in immediately I have been able to get both feet back on the ground. I look at my phone to check my phone again to see when I have to get up to get ready for work tonight. After work tonight, I am going to pick up Mike's mom who is coming over for Thanksgiving this weekend. I have to admit I was a bit nervous. Mike had told me that she is super religious which I was completely oblivious to.
I haul myself out of bed and to the bathroom so I can shower. Once I get out of the shower, I wrap a towel around myself and grab the blow dryer from out of the drawer. I blow dry my hair and then curl it like I do every night. My new uniform is in the dresser that Mike and I shared. He isn't very fond of the black spandex and silver spaghetti strap tank top that had rhinestones decorating the chest. They were brand new as of last week when my boss, Lincoln Culvern, had some extra money after redoing the dancers' wardrobes.
One of the big reasons that Mike didn't like the new uniforms was because the day we got our new uniforms a group of men swatted me on the behind and told me that I should be up there dancing. That didn't go over well with Mike but I explained how I reported it immediately after it happened. I told Lincoln and he kicked the group out. After, he pulled me to the side to apologize for their behavior which I appreciated. Then he added, which I didn't tell Mike, "But they aren't wrong. If you ever want the pay raise, I'll put you up there dancing in a heartbeat." I didn't want the pay raise.
After getting on the uniform, I put on a thick dress and a jean jacket before going out into the cold. I walk to the club so I can be there on time. The buses weren't always on time and I didn't want to risk being late. Mike would drop off his car to the club before going on his mandatory night shift so I could pick up his mom.
