Adam hated that the night with Belle had to end with such an abrupt mood change. Personally he wanted to stay, hoping that Belle was feeling the same thing, but obviously she was just hurt and needed a shoulder to cry on. Yet Adam still swore that something had happened that night, maybe Belle isn't ready, he thought.
As Adam got ready to make his next subtle move on Belle, Belle was being briefed by her father.
"Now, you understand that if something happens in here, you can go to a friend's house and stay there till I get back, right?" Maurice questioned.
"Yes papa, but what could happen?" Belle emphasized happen.
"Anything, a pipe bursting, a break-in; I honestly would prefer you stay at friends until I come back." He said.
"Papa, I'll be fine on my own. Thank you for your concern, but I've done this before." Belle stood up.
"I know, but I'm a father. I'm supposed to worry about you"
"Papa, you know I'll go to a friend's house if something happens." Belle reassured him.
"Just let me know, ok?" Maurice said.
"You'll always be the first to know."

Belle had just thrown another load of laundry when her phone went off. She looked at the caller ID and saw Adams face and though she'd never admit it, she smiled.
"Hello?" Belle answered.
"I... Um... Wanted to know if you would come to dinner with me?" Adam asked harshly.
"Adam, its study night." Belle said slightly scolding him.
"I know, but I want to do something nice for you. And right now dinner is the best option." Adam said, rushing the first half.
"How sweet, well... I mean I guess we could go to dinner, can't be out too late though."
"Even on a Saturday?"
"Even Saturdays, I still have colleges to send applications to."
"Ok, be ready by 7" Adam said, harshness returning.
"Ok, bye now." Belle hung up.
Belle finished the laundry, and her piling homework from math by 5. She knew she could be ready extra early but then she'd be waiting too long. So she read for about thirty minutes cleaned a little until it was 5:45. Then she began to take her shower and fix her hair, she hoped Adam didn't take her to a fancy place since she didn't have the right dress. When she finished it was about 6:30 she looked out the window to see the blue Mustang with Adam walking up her front porch. He rang the doorbell once before she made it the door.
"Here, since I thought you'd like this" Adam said handing Belle two boxes.
"Adam, you didn't have-"
"No I didn't, but I did so put them on... Please?" Adam was very snappish, but redeemed himself with the please.
"Oh, okay, make yourself at home." Belle darted to the bathroom.
When she opened the first very small box she saw a pair of dangly diamond earrings, a matching necklace, and even a bracelet. She put the cold metal to her neck and couldn't think of a single item of clothing she had to match it, until she opened the second box. This box contained a green cocktail dress that ended mid-thigh and came over her shoulders but left the back open. As she carefully put everything on, thinking it was a dream and if she wasn't careful the items would break, she was coming up with many ways to thank Adam. As she came out and in to the living room where Adam was, his jaw dropped.
