Call 1.

"Well, well, well. If it isn't Pam Beesly. Seriously though, what's up? Are you okay? It's a little late, isn't it?" Jim swiveled around in his chair, a beer in his other hand and the tv on mute in the background. "I would have thought that you'd be in bed by now."

"Oh, well, I guess," Pam's voice was a little distant, and he could hear someone yelling in the background who he could only assume was Roy. She suddenly surprised Jim by shouting. "Fine! Leave, I don't care. I really don't give a shit anymore, Roy! Just go...like you always do..."

Jim stopped slouching in his chair and sat up straight, setting his beer down. "Pam?" She didn't answer as there was more inaudible screaming in the background, and then there was a sound of a door slamming. Jim got to his feet and started pacing the carpeted floor. "Pam? Are you there? Are you okay? What's happened?! Do you need me to come over?"

"No...no, I'm fine. Really, I'm fine," it sounded more like she was trying to convince herself. "Christ, are you sure? It sounded like you and Roy were really going at each other just then..."

Pam scoffed. "No more than usual," she murmured with a sigh. "God, it's getting so hard." Jim decided now wasn't the time to make a 'that's what she said' joke. "What is?" He ran a hand through his hair, chewing his lip. "All the fighting we're doing- Roy and I. The wedding is getting closer and closer and I don't- I just- Oh, God..."

"Hey, hey..." his tone immediately calms her, and he can almost hear her soft smile as she relaxes. "It's alright. Trust me, Pam, you aren't the first woman to fall out with her fiancé over wedding preparations- you won't be the last, either." It pains him to talk to her about wedding planning since it's her getting married to Roy, but he has to comfort her right now.

"Hm. I guess not. Thank you...you're a big help. So what are you up to?" He could hear her sit down in her leather chair.

"Me? Eh, not much. I was just watching TV...so...so why did you call me? Did you just want to talk or do you need something?" Pam sighed as he spoke. "I did...I did originally need something but that can wait. I'm sorry I disturbed your evening..."

"Disturbed? Ha. Pam, I've done basically nothing this evening, so there's not a lot that you could possibly disrupt, really."

"Oh...well. Even so. I'm sorry," she sighed. "I know you're right about the whole wedding thing...and yet I still can't help but feel like we're the only couple that fights. I know you don't wanna hear it, so I'll...I'll go now. I'm sorry." She sniffled.

"Pam, no, wait-" but before he could say anything more, Pam had already disconnected, leaving him in silence. Jim sighed and turned off his phone before slumping into his chair again, grabbing his beer and taking a sad swig of it. Maybe she'd tell him what was going on one day.

Call 2.

"Um...hey, this is Jim, right? I hope I didn't get the wrong number...again. I'm not sure why you changed your phone number, but, you know...that's just how it goes."

"...Pam? Yeah, this is the right number." He chuckled. "So...are...are you okay? Why did you ring me?" Jim put her on speakerphone and placed his phone onto his desk as he began to get changed out of his work clothes. "I just...wanted to talk to you. I feel like we didn't properly get to talk the other day...and I still have things to ask you."
