The elves of Tenivassia are a very common race to find. They resemble humans greatly, only differentiated by their tall heights, hair, pointed ears, and their ethereal beauty. Elves covet their beauty and are known as the 'gems of Tenivassia', with their beauty being unparallelled, their bodies glowing with energy from the moons.

The elves are connected to the moons, and they get their magic from them. Elves are nocturnal because of this, and you will most likely find them sleeping during the day. They can be up during the day, but it is much rarer than seeing them at night. The elves all have pointed ears as a feature, and some are different to others. Some ears are pointed upward, others are pointed outwards, some are smaller, others are larger; some come to a harsh point while others are rounded. But every elf has pointed ears, unless they may be a half breed. Some half breeds do not have pointed ears. All elves are also very tall, and all exceed 5'9" in height once they are fully grown.

The elves, like the rendii, were one of the first native races in Tenivassia. They follow a stricter religion path than most, and are more refined than the other races in the land. They have their own strict architecture, language, and religion, and do not have much variety in their people. The elves are most often light in complexion and more often white than brown or black in skin. They wear fine silks and take great pride in their appearances.

Due to this appearance, one of the elves' customs is to grow their hair. Elves never, NEVER cut their hair, and will let it grow. Elves covet their hair as the focal point of their beauty, and believe they are worth less and less the shorter their hair is. Elves nurture their hair, and make sure to wash it the moment it gets greasy and ot braid flowers and pretty twigs into it. They are very beautiful creatures, but will not believe it if their hair is short. An elf with short hair is not an elf.

The only reason elves would ever cut their hair is if they have committed treason to their family and betrayed the name of their household (by not marrying an elf), or if they have lost in battle. The longer the hair, the more dangerous the elf.

The elves are known as the refined, the beautiful, and the aggressive. They are efficient fighters and are very orderly, and their favorite weapons to use are their connection to the moon and its magic. They are built for speed and stealth, not brute strength. They are fair creatures, but also deadly and cutting, like the edge of the blades that they wield. Elves are not a force to cross. They may not be as familial as the Rendii or the Aviankind, but they are sharp and intelligent and not to be messed with.

The current royal family in Tenivassia are elves. They are very wise rulers, and the current reigning Queen is an older woman that is very wise. Elves can live up to 500 years, and she is nearing that point. Her grandson is heir to the throne.

The elves are more commonly the authors and the philosophers of Tenivassia, and are the models and hairdressers and massage therapists, the ones that craft clothes and design buildings and have a penchant for shiny antiques. The jobs that they have in Tenivassia are some of the most diverse, as elves have a wide array of talents. Some are guards on the wall, some are royals, some are horse handlers and others are zoologists or biologists. It all depends on the elf.

Elves speak in a language known as Sende, but can also speak the native tongue of Tenivassia (english in terms of Earth). They prefer to speak in Sende when they communicate with each other, and often get insulted when other creatures can speak Sende. But usually those are only the high ranking elves, because some lower ranking elves will love to teach you Sende. They make very good teachers.

Elves tend to wear lightweight clothing, most commonly trousers and simple shirts with belts and boots and gauntlets. They move around a lot and often move around by horseback, and need to be wearing something they can jump and move around in. Elves need lots of space to move and they need something airy so they can feel the air. They are very close to nature, and are always in tune with the earth and the land of Tenivassia. They bond with the moon during the night, and worship their goddess under the darkness of the New Moon.

The elves follow their own faith, but they also respect other faiths. They are inclusive of others, and will celebrate other holidays with the other races, whether they believe it or not. Some elves are too snobbish to spend time with other races and celebrate those holidays, but the majority of young elves are very happy to celebrate new religion.

You will learn more about the religion, traditions and customs of elves in the Book of Customs.

Elves are strict vegetarians and vegans, as they do not believe in the killing of animals. This is a cause of major strife between them and the Rendii, who are strict carnivores. They are not on great terms, but since they are neighbors, they manage to work it out.

The elves have a great history in war and development, as well as their resistance to colonisation. Of all the races, the elves were the most successful at keeping humans at bay and defending their lands. You will learn more about this in the Book of History.
