Chapter 8

Blaze of the Fire Nation

Blaze watched in horror at what was happening in the arena below the Fire Nation champion was facing off with the Alpha Ender Dragon that was captured earlier that day. But the Dragon only shrunk away and didn't fight and cowered in fear in a corner of the arena. The Champion soon gave up because the fight was too boring trying to fight something that can't fight back, it was like fighting nether wart. But Blaze decided to enter the arena. But he had an idea other than killing it. His heart pounded in his chest with fear as he took a step towards the dragon.

"What is he doing?" He heard Flare, the girl he had a crush on and Fire Star's daughter, ask under her breath but Blaze ignored her for the first time ever. As he approached the dragon she tried to scoot further back but was blocked by the wall. But she stopped trying when she saw Blaze had no weapons in his hands and instead she stood up and approached Blaze. The Dragon towered over him but she wasn't aggressive but instead she was kind and gentle.

"I'm not going to hurt you, I promise." Blaze said holding his hand out. He recognized this dragon, it was the one that End Nation warrior was riding and he was more determined to protect this dragon so he could get her back to her owner.

"Hey!!! Why aren't you fighting her?" Someone from the crowd shouted.

"Yeah!! Someone kill somebody!" Another yelled and the dragon began to look scared.

"I'm not going to hurt you, don't listen to them." Blaze said trying to comfort the dragon. He held his hand out, He'd seen this in a documentary work on a wild animal but he had no idea if it would work on a dragon. The dragon then let his hand rest on her snout. Blaze let the air out of his lungs and allowed himself to start breathing again. The dragon then nudged him with her head, and the people who were watching this scene clapped and cheered. The dragon lowered her wings revealing a beautifully crafted leather saddle was strapped to her back. Blaze looked at the dragon confused. Then the dragon bit down on the back of his shirt and swung him up onto the saddle and Blaze understood that this Dragon wanted him to be his rider.

Later that day, Flare turned up at his door and Blaze was surprised, he had no idea that Flare, the prettiest girl in the Fire Nation would turn up at his door.

"UUUHHH!!!" Blaze said his voice shaking as he rushed to clean up the mess of Leather, Sticks, Gold and Iron on his floor, he was practicing crafting at the time, he was panicking so much that he accidentally cut himself on one of the many Gold Ingots strewn across his floor.

"Oh come on." Blaze muttered as he wiped the blood off his hand with his other finger.

"Are you okay?" Flare asked as she saw the cut.

"Yeah, Yeah, I'm fine." He said as he tossed the last of the materials into the double chest in the corner of his room.

"Hey... uhh... what you did earlier in the Arena was pretty gutzy, taming the Ender Dragon." Flare said with admiration in her voice.

"Oh! Uhh... Ye- yeah... uhh... I had no idea what I was doing." Blaze stuttered.

"Look, Blaze I can tell your nervous, If you have something to say just say it." Flare said sternly.

"I have a huge crush on you." Blaze admitted. I must really sound like an idiot in her eyes. Blaze though looking at the ground.

"That's fine, I like you too." Flare said and Blaze smiled shyly.

"Really? I thought I just sounded like an Idiot." Blaze said and Flare smiled.

"Well... you did, just, in a good way." Flare said.

"Oh..." Blaze said.

"So... Why didn't you kill that dragon, it was such an easy kill to make." Flare said.

"Well... I've set myself on a secret mission." Blaze answered.

"OOH!! What's your mission?" Flare asked.

"Earlier today I encountered an End Nation warrior who survived my attack and this was her pet dragon, I'm thinking she might still be alive and now I want to bring her dragon back to her." Blaze said lowering his voice so only Flare could hear him.

"Blaze, this is incredibly stupid, and crazy illegal, I'm in!" Flare said and Blaze was surprised.

"Really?" Blaze asked.

"Yeah! This is the most interesting thing that's ever happened to me." Flare said.
