The forest was ravished by man as roads and industry took over our pack lands. We lost our prey and many wolves were malnourished. Fewer wolves found their mates and even fewer had pups. Our species depleted and depleted. Then in merely three decades we were down to half our previous population.

First packs began fighting packs for the lack of land there was. Many died and more went rogue. Packs disbanded as rebellion ate them from the inside out. Twenty percent of wolves took eighty percent of the land and resources. Wolves began to divide into lawless class systems. The wealthy stayed wealthy by abusing those below them. Forced mating was once a heinous crime in wolf society, now perpetrators are too powerful to be thwarted.

'Snow' Mum wagged her finger as she shouted 'I don't know what to do with you anymore. You were seen near Hershel Pack lines!'

'Nosey old bats' I muttered under my breath.

Mum looked at me, eyes narrowing, then she took three deep breathes, ' Misses you are going to put me in an early grave.' She lowers her body slowly into the arm chair. I can visibly tell she's in pain, she works hard and long. Her mid length lavender dress is worn. We don't have a lot of money so we spend it on essentials. Somehow nothing for Mum is ever essential. Pinching the bridge of her button nose, she contemplates how to talk to me.

'In this world people like us are bottom. It's not fair and it's not right. Pack folk don't see you, but just a rogue, a threat just someone to attack. They don't care that you're a kid, they see rogue and they're mind is made up. I don't want to lose you baby.' Mum stutters while speaking through tears.

I wrote this a while ago and didn't publish. Not sure whether to carry on. Is it too cliche? Or should I give it a go? Any advice is welcome.

After some much appreciated encouragement I'm going to continue. Chapter Two on its way!
