I flipped the couch cushions and felt around the bare base of the couch for the remote but it was nowhere to be seen. I looked on every surface in the living and room and even moved around the furniture to look for it. "Ugh." I groaned in frustration before I finally gave up. I put the cushions back on the couch and looked at the ceiling above me. "Charlette!" I screamed waiting for the response of my little sister.

A few moments later I heard my sister's footsteps running down the stairs. The came into the living room with a very annoyed expression covering her face.

"Yes?" She asked while looking down at her phone.

"Have you seen the tv remote? I can't find it anywhere." I said crossing my arms.

It took a little bit before she finally replied, "No, did you look in the bathroom or something? Maybe Dad left it there before he left for work," she replied with her eyes still glued to her phone screen.

I rolled my eyes and pulled her towards the bathroom. "Fine, but you are coming with me to look for it," I say while heading towards the bathroom door. I gently open the door and walk inside. I searched for the whole bathroom while my little sister stood in the doorway and watched me.

"Are you sure you looked everywhere?" She asked finally walking into the bathroom with me to help me look.

"Yes, I looked everywhere but Mom and Dad's room."

"Well, there is a problem." My sister said before walking out of the bathroom and up the stairs of our house.

My eyes widened and I quickly ran after her. I finally caught up with her before she could get to my Mom and Dad's bedroom. "Charlette! You know that we aren't allowed in their room!" I screamed gripping tighter onto my sister's arm. She rolled her eyes and pushed me off of her.

"Mom and Dad are both at work so they will never know as long as we don't touch anything." She said while opening the door.

We both walked into the darkroom. It oddly smelled of very heavy metal the farther we got into the room. I got tired of being in the dark so I walked over to the light switched and flicked it on. The darkness was chased out by bright lights that filled the room. I looked over to the tv stand and found the remote sitting on the ledge. I grabbed it and furrowed my eyebrows. Mom and Dad have their tv remote, why would they need to use the one downstairs?

I walked over to Charlette to show her that I found the remote. When I got to her I noticed that her face was fixed on the bed. I directed my gaze to the bed to find lumpy covers with hints of blood on them. My face paled as I walked over to pull the covers off of the bed. My eyes widen when I saw the two bloodied bodies of my parents. My gaze went from my dead parents to the remote and back.

"Charlette, we need to get out of here right now. Whoever did this wanted us to come up here and find them like this." I pulled on my sister's arm but she wouldn't budge. Her gaze was fixed on the lifeless bodies of our parents.

My body stiffened when I heard a creak of the closet door opening. Shivers ran up my spine too afraid to move. I heard my sister scream beside me but I didn't move. I wanted to fight whoever broke into our house and killed our parents but my body disobeyed my mind's commands. There was no point in fighting because I already knew that I was going to die and there was nothing that I could do about it.
