"So Angel City now?"

"Yup" we walked outside and Nate got his wings out. I wasn't as horrified by the sound as much now.  His neon blue wings were all i could look at even when i got my own black and red wings out.

"Just remember, do NOT let go of my hand until we get there, got it?" i nodded and he took my hand, seconds after, he shot up from the ground dragging me after him. After a while i opened my eyes. This was weird, i looked around us and past our wings, that were going a normal speed i would expect them to, to see the world very quickly falling away from us. I took my eyes off the beautiful world around us to look at Nate. His hair was pushed back from his face in the wind and his eyes were bright with excitement. I looked back down and we were way away from the earth.

"I thought you said we weren't going to heaven!"

"I did, Angel City is just a little before heaven. We will be there any minute now so hold tight and don't forget to slow your fall!" Just as he said that i was blinded by a bright light and Nate's hand slipped away from mine.

"Nate!"

When the light went away i could see a beach quickly coming towards me a moved my wings and slowed a tiny bit but not enough. I plummeted into the water and pain spread all through my body. I had lost control of my whole body and choked on the water as it filled my body. This is it. This is when i die. I let my eyes close and was about to give up when a strong arm wrapped around my body pulling me to the surface.

"Lex! Alexis! Oh no, please wake up! Please..." Nate...

I coughed up as much water as i could and opened my eyes. Nate was on the ground next to me staring into my eyes, his hair dripping wet after fetching me from the water. I sat up and coughed up some more water before he wrapped his arms around me so tightly i couldn't breathe, but i don't care.

"I thought i lost you there"

"I almost died there" he looked down "Sorry, i know you said slow my fall by flying but there was so much light i couldn't see anything before it was too late..."

He looked back up at me with sad eyes "You really don't need to be the one saying sorry, i should be. I forget that the first time an angel comes here they don't know about the light, as you come here more often you forget about it and you know to start flying. I'm so sorry Lex i don't know why i forgot to tell you that..." He put his face in his hands and i couldn't help myself when i pulled him into a hug. We sat there for what felt like forever and neither of us wanted to end it. Then i realized what we were actually here for.

"Where's the library then?" i said as we stood up and brushed the sand off of us.

"Follow me we walked along a small path that lead from the beach to a massive hill. When we reached the top i couldn't believe what i was seeing. Large, white houses and shops lined the streets and right at the centre was a huge statue of some angel that i'm guessing is or was very important. A massive gate guarded by at least five guards stood at the entrance to the city.

Nate walked up to one of the guards, with me close behind, and said something that i missed, i was too caught up in staring at the massive gate. It was huge and was covered in beautiful patterns, right at the top was a pair of angel wings made from marble.

"Haven't seen you since you were assigned your angel, this her?" A deep voice took me out of my trance and i finally looked at the man Nate was talking to. He was muscular, more than Nate if that's even possible, tall and had dark brown hair and vibrant, almost glowing, green eyes.

"Yeah, Raph this is Alexis, Lex this is Raphael, he is a guard angel, not guardIAN just guard"

"Nice to meet you err...is it Alexis or Lex?"

"Lex" i know i never wanted to be called Lex and preferred Alexis but now i'm an angel, even though i always was, i think i might as well "Nice to meet you too Raphael"

"Just call me Raph" I winked and we walked past him through the gates. There were children running up and down the street playing, angels going about there daily business, it was like any normal city if you didn't know what they were.

"Here's the library" Nate said as we walked up the steps to probably the biggest of the shops and houses. We walked in and all i saw was books. Tall book cases ran all through the library and right in the centre was a massive spiral staircase leading upstairs and downstairs, in front of the staircase was a table with an old looking angel sitting at it. She had black hair turning grey at the roots, looked sweet and was probably in her late 60's, she was wearing glasses and was reading a book. Two massive piles of books were on either side of her on the table.

"Oh Nathaniel i havn't seen you in forever!" She walked up to him and hugged him.

"Nice to see you too Rose, this is Lex, i was assigned her and that's why i left"

"Hi" i said as she walked up to me and hugged me, i was never good with hugs. My mind wanders to the beach after Nate saved me.

"OK try not to strangle her, Rose. We are just gonna go find a book" After she let me go we walked towards the spiral staircase and descended downstairs to find the book holding the secrets to what i am.
