Leah had believed that she had a perfect life. She was the eldest child and only daughter of Harry and Sue Clearwater.
When Leah had been seven years old, Sue had given birth to Seth. Leah had been ecstatic. From day one she had been protective of her younger brother.
During her childhood Leah had been best friends with her cousins Rachel and Rebecca Black, as well as her cousin Emily Young. The four girls had been as close as sisters.
Though Emily had lived in Neah Bay on the Makah rez, she had visited often. During the summers both Leah and Seth had gone to visit Emily and her family.
After school and some weekends Sarah Black, Rachel, Rebecca, and Jacob Black's Mom, had watched Leah and Seth for Sue and Harry to work.
Sarah had been like a second Mom to the two. Sarah had lost her life in a tragic car accident caused by a drunk driver. Her death had affected everyone on the rez. But especially her family.
Leah's freshman year of highschool she had began dating Sam Uley. The two had been head over heals for one another.
Sam had been Leah's first. By her junior year she and Sam were engaged and looking to marry the summer after her graduation.
Midway through Leah's junior year Sam had gone missing for two weeks. Leah had been upset. Everyone had been searching for Sam.
Upon his return Leah had noticed the changes in Sam. During his absence he had buffed up. He was more quiet. And he had seemed to listen to the Elders, where he had not before.
Though things had seemed off Leah had stuck by Sam's side. They had continued their relationship throughout the remainder of her junior year.
Shortly after school had let out for summer vacation, Emily had came for a visit. She and Leah were going to begin planning for Sam and Leah's wedding.
The second night of Emily's stay Sam had came over for dinner. Leah had noticed a change in Sam that night. Where as he had always been affectionate and loving, that night he had been cold and standoffish.
The next day Sam had broken up with Leah. Leah had been heartbroken. But what was worse was that Sam had gone after Emily.
Leah had been broken when Sam and Emily had hooked up. She had sworn to never speak to either of them again. And she had kept her word.
For two years Leah had stayed to herself. Only associating with her parents and brother. The hurt that she had felt had been heart crushing.
Leah had began to notice a change in her temperament. The least little infraction would set her off.
One afternoon had changed Leah's life forever. She and her Mom had gotten into an argument. Leah's anger had fully consumed her. As her body had began to shake, a heat had spread over her body.
Feeling as though every bone in her body was breaking, Leah had fallen to her knees. A loud growl escaping her body.
As she had phased, she had howled in pain. The shock of seeing his daughter phase had sent Harry into cardiac arrest.
Leah had been the first female to phase. Throughout the tribe's history only the boys had phased. No one knew what would happen with a female.
With the shock of phasing, finding out the legends were true, and Harry's death it had taken its toll on Leah.
Where the guys had taken anywhere from a few days to a week to phase back, it had taken Leah two weeks.
Unable to phase back Leah had watched her Dad's funeral from the woods.
