Ezra - The Boy

Somebody is just lying there in the middle of the road. They're probably dead now though. Oh well.
Wait? Did I just here him mumble?! I turn to Liette and tell her to get help, too many people have died today. Maybe this one... could at least see tomorrow's sunset or something. OK, that will be my goal for this one, to keep him alive until tomorrow's sunset. Cautiously, I walk towards the sprawled out teenager just to check if it could be radiation poisoning or some disease. We've had far too many disaster's as it is! He seems like he's in a lot of pain, it could be a cut or a lot of bleeding making him faint. Who knows?
Actually, I do see quite a lot of blood coming from his shoulder, too much blood. I need help to carry him back but if we wait out here any longer we could both die.
And I thought I heard some thunder clouds earlier, and where there are clouds, there is rain...
Oh shit! I just told Liette to go back and get help. If I try and find her this boy will die. I don't know what to do!

Ok, I need to think rationally and remember my med school training. He's sort of already in the recovery position so I need to stop the bleeding before he dies of blood loss. And I'm sure Liette is safe back in the Arc. I mean, it's only a 5 to 10 minutes walk.
Got to think fast. I pull some of my best bandages out of my worn leather satchel and rap them around his chest and right shoulder. Toma will be really pissed off with me if I bring back one more mouth to feed.
But I can't leave him on his own. Constantly watching his facial expression and his shoulder, I carry
him to the nearest building and drag him inside. If I'm not careful, he could die right now.
Oh god. If you really do exist, please, PLAESE DONT LET ANYONE ELSE DIE TODAY!
I swear this entire world has gone insane with all that has happened. Damn government officials only wanted to save the super rich and themselves. No-one cares about the "poor" people or the people who wouldn't sacrifice the old or really young.
God damn it! The rain has started! Even now I can start to see it scorch the road and smell the fumes let off by the damned stuff. It is a strange feeling, like the inside of your nose is going to burst out into flames and your eyes are going to fall out of your head. But I suppose that's just the radiation as well. Liette should be at the Arc by now so I don't need to worry about her. The only thing I need to worry about right now is this boy. I wonder why he was lying in the middle of the road, would it be too soon to ask him what his name is when he wakes up? That is, if he wakes up at all.
Now I can see the boy a little clearer, I am able to see a strange scar running down the left side of his cheek, he would of been quite handsome if not for that scar. He definitely has a strong jaw line and his nose compliments the shape of his face perfectly. His olive skin and thick wavy black hair make him look like he is at least 14, at the most he is 16. Suddenly, his eyes twitched as if he was finally waking up. That would be some improvement. He moved slightly again but only for a second.
Hey, it looks like the rain has stopped. If we wait a few minutes for the acid to dissolve, we will be back at the Arc in no time at all. Oh Liette, please be safe.
