Billie's POV:
This is it I thought as I took a deep breath and headed towards the open door. It's my first day at East high school and i'm really nervous. I decided to arrive at school early so that I can get used to it before classes begin. I hurried to the office to get my timetable and a map of the school. As I barged through the door of the office, i was surprised to see an attractive guy who was my age. Everyone told me the boys here were ugly.. well, definately not this one! My heart stopped as he turned to look at me. Our eyes met for a moment before I looked away, feeling rather awkward. I heard his quiet chuckle and took a deep breath before walking towards the desk, where a smiling office lady was sitting, waiting for me.
"Hey."
I spun around to face him.
"Hi, I'm Billie."
"I'm Sam, you're new here right?"
"Yeah, this is my first day."
STUPID! I thought. Gees miss state the obvious!!
"Would you like me to show you around?"
"Yeah, that would be nice. Thanks."
Sam tried to hide a laugh but clearly failed as he started choking.
"Well that was shameful." He said, his face turning bright red.
I decided not to continue this conversation and walked to the office lady at the desk.
"Hey, I'm Billie. I need a timetable?"
Without a word, she grabbed a sheet of paper and handed it to me. The slight smile she had on her face suggested that i should leave. I spun on my heel and walked out of the room without looking up. As soon as i left the room and headed up the pathway, i heard footsteps behind me. I froze on the spot, waiting for someone to hit me or start calling me names but the pain and hatred never came, instead i heard a quiet chuckle.
"It's okay, it's only me. Sam."
I turned and gave him a stern look. He seemed nice enough so i allowed myself to smile and get a bit of a look at him. His face was perfect, he had amazing brown eyes and light brown hair. His eyelashes were longer than most guys' but that just made him look even more attractive to me. He had a few freckles on his slightly tanned nose and his smile was just AMAZING!!
"ummmm, hello? Earth to Billie!" He said, laughing. His laugh is so cute!
"Oh SHIT, sorry. What were you saying?"
"I wasn't saying anything, I just noticed you were staring at me." He smirked.
I nearly died of shame! I felt my face turning red so i started to run. I had to get away from Sam, i just couldn't handle how amazing he was. Unfortunately, he grabbed my wrist and spun me around to face him. We were so close I could actually hear his heartbeat. I felt my face turn red again and i turned my head so that i wasnt facing him.
"It's okay Billie, i'm not going to hurt you." He whispered into my ear.
Just as he finished the sentence, the bell rang. Sam let go of me and looked at my timetable.
"English at B02." He laughed.
"what's so funny?" I asked, confused.
"Ms Moor is your teacher. I bet you're gonna have fun!"
I remained silent as he walked me to the classroom. As we got there he mumbled something but i couldn't hear him. He quickly turned and walked away before i had the chance to ask him what he said.
"Soooo, you and Sam, eh?" A voice said behind me.
"No, he was just...showing me around." I replied.
"You're the only girl i've seen him talk to since Leah died." Someone else said.
"W-who's Leah?" I asked.
"Sam's ex girlfriend. She died in a car crash two and a half years ago. Sam still hasn't gotten over her... well, until now that is."
I stopped talking and looked at the floor. I could feel tears swelling up in my eyes and i didnt want anyone to see me cry. I'm not a sook or anything, it's just that death scared me and i feel bad for Sam having to put up with the one he loved die.
---------------------------------------------------
The english lesson passed by extremely slowly. Ms Moor decided to get me to stand infront of the class and say who I am and where i'm from and then she made the class sing a 'welcome' song to me. I nearly vomited. When i was finally allowed to sit down, the only spare seat was next to a snobby looking girl with bleached blonde hair and a really dark spray tan. Urrrgh, i'm stuck next to a human barbie. As soon as i sat down she looked at me with her make-up covered eyes and snikered.
"Sam will NEVER like you, he's way too cute and you're just plain ugly. He belongs with me. If you touch him, you're gonna have a broken face, okay?" She said, snugly.
I rolled my eyes and started writing down notes. Throughout the lesson, i could feel her eyes burning into the side of my head but i didnt dare look up.
Sam was waiting for me after class. The barbie i sat next to in class said hi to him in a high pitched voice and when he didnt respond, she turned to watch me walk towards the door and knocked my books out of my hands.
"WHAT THE FUCK BROOKE?" Sam yelled, kneeling down to help me.
I felt tears in my eyes and looked away, i couldn't let Sam see me cry. He took my chin in his hand and turned my face towards him so that he could see me. He noticed the tears forming in my eyes and a concerned look crossed his face as the tears slowly fell from my eyes and formed streams down my face.
"HAHAHA LOOK, SHE'S CRYING!!" Said a voice from outside. I heard laughter then footsteps walking away. I looked at Sam, who was staring out of the window, hoping to get a glipse of who said that. I couldn't take this, i just fell in a heap to the floor. Sam must've heard the BANG because he turned around pretty quick and looked at me, worriedly. He saw that i was still crying and took me into his arms.
"Shhhhh, it's okay." He wispered soothingly into my ear. "Don't cry."
I sobbed into his shirt and put my arms around his neck. I felt better like that.
