Several students were walking in the auditorium for Talent Show sign-ups and auditions. The music teacher was one of the gym teachers, Coach Johnson along with Ms. Grey were the the judges on who is and isn't performing in the show. Each student signed their name and they walked on the stage to show what they got. One student was doing some karate moves, another acting out a scene from The Wizard of Oz, then there was Meredith doing a guitar cover of one of the songs from her favorite band, "Black Forest" I think the song was called "Midnight Moon" She was really good with her electric guitar. I can see Andrea enamored with her. While my friends and I signed our names, I glanced up from the clipboard towards the stage and there was Jay with a keyboard. And he started to sing. His fingers danced gracefully on the keys and his voice, oh my God, his serenading voice.... It sounded like an angel.
"Hold my hand as we go through time and space,
I love your twinklin' eyes and that smile on your face.
No more feelin' blue, my love for you is true, oooohhh~
Baby, I believe in you..."
I was starstruck with his performance like Andrea was with Meredith. Once he was done, he walked off the stage with the teachers clapping. Next up was Jessica and her friends. Ugh! They got on the stage and started to sing as well, but they sounded awful. It's no better that the song is an annoying and overrated pop song about living the life of a millionaire popstar. I hate that song! It plays on the radio Too. Many. Times.
"Feel like a million bucks,
Got my hair and nails done,
Now I'm off to the club to have some fun,
I rule the place, chillin' in the VIP,
Everybody else wants to be just like me."
The fact that the meanest girls are singing this, makes me hate that song even more. Jessica was the lead singer while Veronica and Rebecca were the backup singers and dancers. All three sang and danced to their rich life song. Once they were done, the teachers and most students applauded too and Brody was cheering loudly in the seats. A few more students took their turns peeforming something until finally we were next.I looked at Andrea and Frida. "Ready, guys? You got the music? You remember our dance moves?" They nodded. We walk up onto the stage, Frida pressed play and everyone in the auditorium went silent once our song played. We started to dance and I completely forgot about my humiliation in the hallway, Ms. Emmonds yelling at everyone and I even forgot about the fight between Andrea and Rebecca. I felt free. I now realized why the song was titled 'Set Your Mind Free'. We did all the moves we practiced so far and that was it. The teachers clapped for us and so did most of the other students who auditioned. Including Jay! I felt really warm seeing his smile. As for snobby Jessica, she just gave us a disgusted look with the stink eye. And then she turned and left the auditorium with her friends following behind her and Brody with his arm around her waist. I have nothing to worry about now, except for whoever makes it into performing in the show on the opening night. Study Hall is ending now. So next I have Biology with Ms. Irwin. She's always chill and she just stays calm in any situation no matter how severe. Twenty minutes in Biology and Ms. Irwin goes on with her lesson, but the intercom calls her over to the office to pick something up and deliver it to another room. "Remember, everyone." She began. "We must classify the living organisms in our ecosystem by Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Spe--" Before she could finish, the intercom went off. "Ms. Irwin, please report to the Principal's office. You are needed in assistance of delivery." She turned to us. "I'll be right back. Be sure to take notes and study quietly while I'm gone." And she leaves the room. Ten seconds pass and I can hear Ms. Emmonds scolding someone own the hall. It was kinda muffled between these brick walls, but I knew it was her. "You guys hear that?" Shawn asked. "Yeah I hear it too." I replied. Andrea heard the yelling as well. "Let's go investigate before Ms. Irwin comes back." Me, Shawn and Andrea get up from our seats and sneak into the hall with the rest of the class peering out the door. The overheard scolding from Ms. Emmonds rapidly evolved into a raging yell and I feel bad for the student getting yelled at because I can hear her crying and apologizing excessively, but Ms. Emmonds was not backing down. We need to tell the principal to fire her! Before she mentally and emotionally damages any more students. We rush back to the classroom before Ms. Irwin returned. And carried on with classifying organisms. It wasn't long before it was time to go to ELA for next period. There we had an online exam about what we know from reading Romeo and Juliet. I forgot to study... But I still managed to get a high test score.
