Marinette slammed her head on the desk.
"AHHHHHH!" She screamed out of pure frustration. She had failed to grab Chat's ring because she was stupid enough to get injured by him. His flattery and his flirtatious nature had distracted her from saving Paris and now he was distracting her from saving Adrien. A terrified Tikki heard the scream and flew into Marinette's room. She remembered how angry Marinette had been earlier and hoped that she wasn't still mad.
"Marinette?" The kwami looked at the floor, terrified of what her owner might do.
Marinette heard Tikki and looked at how scared she was of her. A new feeling arose in her chest that she didn't recognize. She liked that Tikki was terrified of her. She liked the feeling that she was more powerful than the kwami.
She had been conflicted ever since Adrien's death. A battle between her emotions was raging inside of her. Half of her said that she needed to accept that he was gone and move on. The other half told her that she needed to bring him back, no matter the cost. Unfortunately, the other half had finally fully consumed her. She was no longer the Marinette of the past- selfless and kind. No, she was a new Marinette. A person that would stop at nothing to get what she wanted, not even if it meant hurting the people she loved.
She liked the power she held over Tikki and hungered for more of it. Getting Chat's miraculous would give her more power than she had ever had before. Enough power to bring the boy she loved back to life.
"I must have this absolute power!" Marinette pointed at Tikki. "Your Miraculous is in my control. I am your master now, and you must obey me."
Tikki looked at her former friend and didn't recognize her anymore, but she had no choice other than to obey. If Marinette wanted to be her master, there was nothing she could do about it. "Yes, master." Tikki reluctantly submitted to her owner.
Marinette pointed to her closet. "You will stay there until I need you. Understand?"
The coldness in her voice didn't go unnoticed by the kwami. Without a word, Tikki obliged and flew into the dark closet. Marinette, the once kind, sweet, selfless girl, felt no remorse when she sent Tikki away. She had every right, didn't she? The miraculous was given to her, so she deserved to have control over the kwami. She deserved to get what she wanted, everything she wanted, even Chat's miraculous.
Marinette, with a newfound determination, sat down at her desk and drew up a plan. She was done using her powers to help everyone. It was time to use her powers to help herself.
Adrien Agreste was making a plan as well. His plan was to stop Hawkmoth, once and for all. That man had terrorized the people of Paris enough, and he was sick of it. Plagg asked him if he was sure he wanted to get rid of him, he was his father after all, but Adrien had made up his mind. He no longer considered that man to be his father.
"I'm sure I want to do this Plagg. I have to do this." Adrien was determined to stop the villain, but he was having trouble coming up with a plan.
"So, kid. If we're gonna defeat evil butterfly man, then we should probably have a plan." Plagg was skeptical of Chat's ability to come up with any plan. To be honest, Chat Noir wasn't the most cunning superhero he had ever met. He acted on impulse rather than thinking things through. Without Ladybug to keep him in check and come up with a plan, Plagg seriously doubted that Chat stood a chance at defeating Hawkmoth.
Adrien sat down and thought hard. "I'm not sure what the plan is. I kinda thought we could just show up and kick his butt."
Plagg stared at him. "Idiot. You are a complete idiot. You need an actual plan to defeat him. Hawkmoth is way more powerful than you, but you have the upper hand. He won't expect you to attack him face-to-face because you're dead, so you can take him by surprise. You know where he lives, so go back home and use your Cataclysm to kill him"
A look of excitement spread across Adrien's face. "Plagg, you're a genius!"
"I know."
The excitement quickly faded as the words sunk in. Go back home and use your Cataclysm to kill him. He knew he had to kill Hawkmoth, but could he really do it? He always hesitated when it came to making decisions and he couldn't afford to hesitate with this. If he made one mistake, Hawkmoth could win and he could die. He couldn't let Hawkmoth get the better of him, he was Paris' last hope. The other heroes, Rena and Carapace, were too inexperienced to beat Hawkmoth alone, especially if they had to fight Ladybug as well.
For the first time in his life, Adrien Agreste didn't impulsively make a decision. He thought about his options. "I can't attack Hawkmoth. Well, not right now at least. There's a good chance I would lose and I can't risk leaving Paris vulnerable like that."
Plagg was impressed. Maybe that kid was smarter than he gave him credit for. He really was filling Ladybug's shoes quite nicely. "Good thinking kid. You need a backup plan, in case you... well... you know... die."
Plagg quickly added. "Not that I care!"
Adrien teased his kwami. "Oh, you'd miss me if I died. Your next owner might not give you Camembert."
Plagg clutched his heart. "Not the camembert! You can't die kid! I care about... camembert."
Adrien chuckled for the first time in a while. "I care about you too Plagg."
