Li was still sitting there when Stephen came back.
He didn't understand what it was about Li. Similar to Hosuh, he had mixed feelings about him. Li made him angry, yet he didn't know why. He pushed it in the back of his mind and saw the bag right next to Li. He walked by, trying not to make eye contact. "Hey, Stephen." Li (condescendingly, to Stephen) smiled and pat his shoulder. The other boy just held the bag by his side, "Yeah..?"
"You take good care of Hosuh, okay?"
    "What's that supposed to mean?"
"He's a really nice kid y'know, so don't play with his heart so much."
"Don't play with his heart—we're not dating."
Li raised his eyebrows, "What?" "Where did you get that from?" Stephen snorted, crossing his arms, "Hosuh and I have never been together." Li blinked, "Well, I was going on about how you two are so cute—I even asked if you guys were dating. Hosuh never objected or denied it." Li huffed. Stephen just ran his hand through his hair and just grumbled an, 'okay..i'll talk to him about it.'

Stephen walked back to where Hosuh was waiting, squeezing his hand in his own. "Did you tell Li we're dating?" he accused. Hosuh's eyes widened, "W-what? No, of course not.." "Then why did he think we are??" Stephen spat, pretty angry, trying to ignore the quickening pace of his heartbeat. "I don't know." Hosuh mumbled softly, "'m sorry if you're mad. I didn't want to interrupt him.." Stephen eased, sighing, and stopped gripping his hand so hard. "It's fine. Just tell people we aren't dating, 'kay?'
"Okay..but, what's wrong with dating me?"
Stephen paused, slightly taken aback by the bluntness of the question. "What?"
"Hosuh bit his bottom lip, "What's wrong with dating me..?"
"Nothing—it's just, I'm sick of people always asking us if we're dating."
"Okay."
Hosuh couldn't help but noticed how Stephen's face became a bit redder and how he absolutely refused to look at him after that.

Stephen sat in the driver's seat, angrily drumming on the steering wheel as he waited for traffic to move. Hosuh had put the bag containing Ann's gift in his lap. The other bags, the ones which Stephen had been holding, was placed in the backseat. Hosuh gazed at the sky, colored a bright blue. It reminded him of the color of a child's drawing outside. "Jeez, why won't this person move??" Stephen grumbled, honking the horn, making Hosuh jumped. The person in front of them flipped them off. Stephen took offense to this, but didn't do anything after, not wanting to get into any legal trouble. Instead he just muttered profanities under his breath. Hosuh patted his shoulder and Stephen straightened his back, sighing irritatingly as the car finally began to budged and move.
"Christ." Stephen snorted. Hosuh bit his lip and looked away. "No need to get so angry, Stephen." he said softly, "It was only a few minutes." "Weren't you the one worried about being late?" Stephen gripped the wheel, "Actually, you clearly weren't. Too busy talking to Li, huh?" Hosuh scrunched up his nose, "What? No! You were getting coffee..." "Right, so it's my fault, hm?" Stephen bitterly laughed. "What? Stephen, you're acting so weird! Please don't be so sour over nothing, especially before Ann's birthday party.." Hosuh's eyebrows knitted together in concern and confusion. Stephen blinked hard and didn't look at Hosuh. He just stayed quiet.
Somehow, this made Hosuh feel worse.
Mentally, he thought about all the things he could have done wrong, but honestly, there was nothing he could think of.
"Stephen.."
"What?" his voice was oddly cold.
"What did I do wrong..?
Stephen blinked, almost forgetting to drive. "...No, you didn't."
"Then why are you so mad?"
The boy pulled over so the other cars on the road could pass. He cleared his throat and looked at Hosuh. "W-well.." he touched his neck. "What?" Hosuh repeated, getting slightly fed up. "Don't get mad," Stephen licked his chapped lips. "Just tell me!" Hosuh exclaimed.
"I think I like you."
The older boy's jaw slacked as his eyes widened.
Stephen's face was kept straight. Even though internally he was panicking inside, externally, he managed to keep it together. Somehow. Although he felt like he was gonna lose it if Hosuh continued to stare at him like that—
"Oh." was the only thing that came out of Hosuh's mouth. He was too flustered to say anything. "Now that that's out of the way." Stephen pulled the car back into the road and continued to drive. He glanced at Hosuh from time to time, as the other boy seemed to be in a daze. They drove the rest of the ride in silence.

"Hosuh! Stephen!" Ann grinned as she excitedly waved at the boys. "We got a present for you!" Hosuh smiled handing her the bag. Ann squeaked and flung her arms around him. Stephen cleared his throat and pushed past them. Hosuh could only watch from behind's Ann's shoulder as the figure of the boy who had just confessed to him walked deeper into the comfy house.
Stephen ended up sitting next to Jay, since he really didn't want to sit next to Hosuh. He, more or less, pushed Dan out of his own seat so he could sit in the middle and avoid the boy. Dan's eyebrows furrowed together, "What? You don't feel so hot?" Stephen arched his own eyebrow, "What makes you think that?" He rested his head on the table. "Usually you say something funny after, but now you just seem bitter." Dan clicked his tongue as Jay nodded, "Dan's not wrong." "I know he's not wrong!" Stephen hissed, burying his face deeper into his arms. "Woah, woah, chill man." Dan murmured. "Sociopaths don't feel emotions, Stephen. Careful, you're even scaring me with your ability to fake 'em." Jay hummed, resting his head on the back of his hand, chuckling softly as Stephen could only sigh. "Okay, serious, what happened?" Dan patted Stephen's back.
Both Jay and Daniel had figured out the purple-haired boy's feelings for the other a long time ago, but nevertheless they were happy that Stephen was finally coming into terms with it. "I told him." Stephen whispered. Jay rubbed Stephen's back, "Don't worry too much about it..." Stephen didn't say anything.
Throughout the party, Stephen didn't talk too much. Hosuh was quieter but was still cheery for his best friend. Eventually, it was time to go.
Hosuh caught up with Stephen since they had driven together. They both said there goodbyes and sat in Stephen's car. The taller boy looked at Hosuh expectantly, waiting for the other to speak, as they were in private. Hosuh fiddled with his fingers. "Y-you weren't joking, huh.." he mumbled to himself. His voice was soft and feathery, it put Stephen to ease, at least in the smallest bit. "No shit." the other grumbled, crossing his arms.
"Well, uhm.." Hosuh's face flushed, realizing he would have to either accept or deny Stephen's confession. Of course that was what Stephen was waiting for..! Don't be stupid Hosuh..!!
"Look, if you don't like me, I get it. Heh, I don't even like myself.." Stephen paused, feeling vulnerable, "We can forget this ever happened—"
Hosuh leaned over and gave a soft kiss on Stephen's cheek. "I like you, too, Stephen." Hosuh whispered, face red, his hands clammy. Stephen's heart pounded in his chest, and he barely managed to keep his cool. "O-of course. Who doesn't?" he stammered out, and the two boys laughed in the car, under the night sky, all the tension released and shattered.

After that, Stephen didn't mind all the compliments and questions of him and his own adorable boyfriend.
