“Where are we going?”

“You'll see.”

You looked out the window of the bus and watched the multitudes of people, buildings, and signs as they flew by. Sometimes they were blurs of colors and other times mismatched shapes that made your eyes dance to watch.

Being in a different country, you supposed you should feel nervous about not knowing where your friend was taking you. With no knowledge of the language and not the slightest of idea of your destination, it was justified for you to be anxious. Most especially because this particular friend was just as clueless as you when it came to Turkish, and she was the type of senseless person to lose her whereabouts in a closet. You were screwed in a city if she was your guide.

But oddly enough, there was a certain serenity to Istanbul; it was the kind that lulled you and made you care very little for your ignorance, and you felt more like smiling than you did fretting over the possibility of getting lost.

The smells, the language, the sun, the people... The overall splendor of the archaic city made you feel so at home that you found it difficult to worry over your unforeseen fate. So instead you leaned back into your seat and exhaled, eyes still glued to the blurred scenery of the window.

“Let me guess,” you murmured as the buss passed a series of stores. “We're going shopping.”

“Nope.”

You turned to look at your friend and the bus hit a bump, causing your head to loll around and hers to fall forward.

“Dancing?” you asked, raising a brow.

She shook her head. “Nope.”

That was a relief to you. You relaxed into your seat again.

“Good.”

She grinned at your reply, knowing full-well that you hated social environments like clubs and bars, and finding anything of the sort a risk to your overall safety in this foreign land.

“Besides, you don't dance during the day, _______,” she said, rolling her eyes. “That's a night activity.”

You shrugged and brought you gaze back to the window. “Just making sure.”

The bus gave a wheeze as it began to slow, the sights beyond the window inching past until the vehicle came to a full stop. The majority of the passengers remained seated, but a few, including you and [F/N], stood to climb off.

As soon as your feet hit the ground, you brought your arms above your head gave a long stretch. Swinging them back down to your sides, you glanced at [F/N], who was paying the driver, before eyeing your surroundings.

But there really wasn't much to look at.

The most eye-catching sight was a crowd of people, which was in an open, grassy field just big enough to fit the mass, circled around some sort of event. The sound of a man's voice speaking in rapid Turkish echoed through the air and over the voices of the excited crowd.

The other passengers were headed towards the mass of people, and you squinted as they melded into the crowd. What was going on – some kind of game?
