CHAPTER 1
AVA POV:
It was a beautiful saturday afternoon and I was cooped up in my small New york city apartment. It was a sacred tradition in my family to watch the Giants game together. So while my family was in Long Island, I watched it in my livingroom apartment while skyping with them. It wasnt the same as it was when I was at home but I was thankful for the company. I had left home 6 years ago to pursue a career in journalism, more specifically sports journalism. I had just finished 4 years at New York University and got a job at channel 4 local news at 9 reporting on the little events, but I was happy. I stared at my TV in sweatpants and a NWU sweatshirt, the camera zoomed in on Jackson Bates, god was he gorgeous. His blue eyes as brilliant as his uniform. He called a play and the center snapped the ball on hut. He dropped back looking for an open receiver down field. He took a step forward and launched the ball down field, the camera followed it the whole way. I stood up and held my breath, the ball spiraled through the air perfectly until Evan Pratt made a one handed catch and toppled into the endzone I screamed and jumped up and down as my ipad went nuts with the excitement from my family. I did a happy dance for a while until I noticed my phone buzzing.
“Hello?” my voice sung into the phone as I pranced into my kitchen.
“Someones in a good mood, did lover boy make a good throw, Ava?” My best friend teased through from the other end. SHe knew my obsession for football but didn't understand why. Dont get me wrong, she hated the game, but she loved the players. I sat back down on my couch and opened my water. The Giants game went to commercial so I said goodbye to my family and switched it to my brothers game.
“Ha ha, funny, hes not my lover but he did have a fantastic throw to win the game.” I said sarcastically.
“Cool, anyways want to go out tonight?” She asked. I groaned at the thought of going out tonight but I owed it to her from last week.
“Sure,” I said “but first I gotta watch a little bit of Marcus’s game, Keeley.” Marcus was my younger brother who played Quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, which broke my dads heart. As long as I can remember my family has always hated the Cowboys and of course thats wear Marcus ended up but we still love him.
“Of course you do, I’ll be over in 3 hours, you better be ready!” She squealed. SHe hung up leaving me listening to a dial tone. Sighing I focused on the game, they were playing the Chicago Bears, and easy team so I wasn't to worried. After an hour and a half I shut the TV down and went to take a shower. After my shower I wrapped myself in a fluffy towel and went to my closet. I had bought a new sapphire blue dress that matched my eyes perfectly. I slipped into it and zipped up the back. It hugged my body perfectly and showed off enough skin but not too much. a knock came to my door and i ran to go get it. A beautiful girl with strawberry blond hair leaned against the door frame. Her dress was a brilliant red and shower off the the right curves on her. Her mouth dropped open when she saw me.
“Girl you look fabulous, I might have to go home and change cause you look better than me.” She pouted, theres my best friends for you, I thought.
“I’m almost ready I just nee to put my make up on…” I said but she cut me off
“Don’t! You dont need it you look perf!” She informed me
“Okay,” I said suddenly self conscious. I grabbed my tan heels and clutch purse and followed her out the door.
