Downtown Kitano City, Planet Kitano.
*Reese's POV*
After I parked the speeder on a curb, I had Elle layout a map of downtown for me on my wrist brace, and had her guide me past the heavy crowds.
I reached in one of my pouches on the belt I stole from my job on Azaylar, and grabbed a blue facial breathing mask I wore, due to Azaylar's atmosphere.
Lucky for me, masks are more fashion item than utility here on Kitano. I'm the only human on this world, hell, in this galaxy. Who knows what would happen if some locals got curious. Granted, I have super strength, some combat knowledge and my trusty AI, but I get the feeling that only goes so far.
As I milled about with the various peoples, I spotted what looked like a gift shop not too far from a tram terminal. I zipped up my jacket, adjusted my mask, and walked on in.
"Greetings!" The shop clerk welcomed me. "Welcome to Iciri's Sporting Goods, I'm Iciri. Need help with anything?"
"I'm looking for a scarf, a pair of gloves and some shades."
"Shades?" Iciri asked
"Oh...optic visors, preferably polarized." I replied. "I get the feeling the stadium lights won't agree with my eyes."
"Been doing a little drinking, have we?" Iciri nudged, chuckling.
"Not yet," I replied. "This is my first time here, and I'm looking to...enjoy the spectacle."
"Where you from, mister?"
I hesitated. "Well, let's just say it's a long way from here."
"Which of the planets?"
I put my hands up. "Safe to say none of the ones in Artemisia."
Iciri looked at my hands, to which he grabbed my left one, and rolled up my sleeve.
I almost cracked his nose, but it wouldn't be worth having authorities coming down here, especially if they're those Grey assholes.
"Oooh, an Ardainian! This is quite the treat!"
I flinched at 'treat'. "How so?"
"I've heard stories about your kind. Your people aren't space faring. But that doesn't seem to be the case here."
"Yeah. Well, firstly, we call ourselves humans. We are space faring, but not to the extent of the people in this part of the cosmos. We've barely got to our planet's moon."
Iciri looked at me, puzzled. "Then how are you here?"
I sighed. "You know the Madorians, the Greys?"
Iciri nodded.
"The Grey empire sons of bitches attacked Earth, my home. They kidnapped and experimented on me, and I wound up having to fight a Captain to save the world. I stole his ship afterwards, and headed out to space."
Iciri whistled. "The Empire will do that to you. Some of the people on Kitano are refugees from them."
"Damn." I uttered before picking out a scarf that was gunmetal gray and electric blue, a pair of gloves in the same swirl of colors and a pair of polarized and tinted TF-Q Multi Purpose Visor.
"That'll be 200 credits." Iciri read.
While I thought the price was a little high, I nodded and moved my bracer's display screen to the scanning glass in the counter below.
After a quick beep, I nodded to Iciri, reaching my hand out.
"Name's Reese."
"Iciri." He replied, smiling while shaking my hand. "Do enjoy the games. They're going to blow you away, my friend."
I thanked the shop owner, and once I stepped outside, I wrapped the scarf around my neck whilst forming a hood for my head. I slipped on the gloves, and headed for the stadium, eager to see a gladiator match.
