We decided that we'd meet at my house after school.
When I'd told Jack about people coming over, he'd been thrilled. He told me he was glad I was adjusting.
I'll admit, he was starting to grow on me.
But I wanted Jeff more.
Mom dated Jeff in Baltimore... Until he started blowing her off for what he said were, 'important reasons'. Mom got fed up and started dating Jack without really saying anything to Jeff, thinking pushing aside their plans were his way of breaking up with him.
But they weren't.
He got SO p'd-off like you wouldn't IMAGINE. He went crazy and started drugs and crap... But he wouldn't have if Mom had just realized WHY he was blowing her off!!
That's when my friends got there.
We got comfortable and started eating chips and salsa and watching TV.
But when the sleeping part came... Well, it's not too hot.

We had just settled down with a movie and were getting ready to sleep. It was like 11:30.
I was just starting to fall asleep when a bright light filled the room.
"Guys?" I said sleepily, sitting up and rubbing my eyes.
But they were both snoring away.
A looked around. The TV was on, but it was on a really low brightness and volume setting so we could sleep. The light was coming from a corner...
I started towards it, wondering if it was some kind of lamp or firefly. (Hey, it was like 1:00. I was tired and out of it.) as I got closer, I realized it was a golden... Ball-thingy.
When I reached out to touch it, I turned and zipped through the wall. Too many sweets, I thought, and turned to go back to my sleeping bag when I saw it again out of the corner of my eye.
I turned and lunged for it. It went right through the wall. I turned and it came back. When I tried to touch it, it went away. We did it twice more. Finally, I got fed up and ran into the hallway.
There it was. I flew down the hall. I rushed after it. Up the stairs it went. So did I. I followed it everywhere until it went into my bedroom. Just as I was about to open the door, I heard a thud behind me.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"
I jumped about a mile into the air. It was Jack. "Why are you making so much noise?!" he demanded. "You nearly gave me a heart attack! Why aren't you in the hideout with Destiny and Olivia?"
I thought for a moment, then lied. "I heard a noise from my room and I was checking to see if something fell," I told him, staring at his forehead. When you lie, it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to look the person in the eye.
"Then why were you stomping all over the house?"
"I um... Got lost? It's a big house, Jack."
He looked doubtful. But he said okay and went back to bed.
I glanced back at my door, but decide that I'd better just go back downstairs. So I did.
