The Earth's Last Witch

Humans discovered the supernatural beings hiding among them. It was not with open arms that humans welcomed them.

They burned and slaughtered those of their brethren who had hidden these secrets and tortured those of them that knew the other kinds secrets.

Year after year, the humans broke through with discoveries on ways to kill those who were not like them- and for the years after, they began killing off the other races. Vampires had no problem attacking them, but many of the shifter races- hesitated. Their downfall came easier.

Witches around the world were captured and burned on pikes in masses, while humans celebrated and drank to their deaths. The humans had learned the secrets of how to keep a witches magic at bay. Mostly with whispers and practises of seduction and gold. Those witches who were immune to these earthly attractions, were harder to kill. But none could stand against an army of humans with fire and axes. See, one had to either burn a witch or chop her head off in order to kill them. But sometimes, a rare occasion, a witch was immune to the fires brought to burn them alive- and so, humans feared them the most. Feared the wrath of the witches and placed them as their first targets.

Without witches the other races were weak.

Vampires were killed in much less succession, as a stab to the heart with a wooden object was harder to accomplish- especially when you were a vampires daily meal.

Shifters were weak to silver and certain plants- that were hard to come by, they also tended to hesitate more when it came to murdering humans. Years of living side-by-side did that to most of them.

Those humans that spoke against what they did to the different races, were burned alongside witches, were beheaded and stabbed alongside vampires and shifters- all to prove a point that even till this day and age, is still understood.

Humans can be as heartless as a vampire, as ruthless as a shifter and as powerful as a witch. All without having these 'special' abilities.

Generation after generation of humans became even stronger, even more engraved with cruelty. And with this the supernatural beings started to diminish in size. So far that all the witches had vanished, until only one remained.

And even this witch, the last hope of all the other races, had disappeared.
