The full moon poured light into the dim bedroom where a young man played a melancholy sonata. A blue tint shined in his disheveled black hair as his head swayed to the rhythm of the dark music that fit his aura completely. His agile fingers twirled on the keys that were as white as his skin. His entire being was connected with the sad style of classical music that he had played almost every night for the last two centuries.
As the last note sounded from the piano, the vampire opened his emerald green eyes and looked around at his elegant self made prison's walls. Random posters were displayed haphazardly and two large wooden bookshelves flanked both sides of his impressive desk, strewn with papers and books of poetry.
His soft sigh was colored with a touch of despair and he contemplated his plans for the next day. As a ruse to hide their vampiric nature, his family had enrolled him and his younger brother into the local college. Classes were a tedious necessity but he spent most of his time in the library or the music room, the only two places on campus where he found refuge.
He debated about going out hunting for game, since his family had sworn not to hunt humans long ago, but decided instead to satiate his hunger by way of the blood bags given to them by a local blood bank. The taste would be much more pleasant and would satisfy him longer. The emotional strain of killing an animal was almost too much for him to bear right now.
A quiet knock at his bedroom door brought him back to the present.
"Peter?" A gentle masculine voice called from the other side of the door.
"Yes, Nicolae, I'll be down shortly." He responded, knowing his older brother wanted to have a talk with him after this last week's events. He couldn't hide here forever. It was time to face the music, however sour the tune might be.
