THERE WERE ALWAYS people who liked to judge her for no reason at all. She was hardly ever really noticed by people around her. Unless you count the jocks and popular girls who sought out to make her life. But no matter what those people did or said, she wasn't one who was willing to listen. She liked being herself and that was fine.
She guessed things could get worse. She could be a complete freak like the Fenton boy who lived across the street. She never talked to him. He was the one who mostly suffered through the ridicule and the constant teasing that seemed to follow him.
Perhaps she were lucky. But that all changed when she found herself standing up for the boy in front of the quarterback of the football team. She had held confidence while looking him in the eye. Then the Fenton boy would soon become the greatest friend she would ever have.
