I entered a darkly lit café with nothing but five dollars in my pocket and book in hand. I sighed quietly as I made my way over to an empty table. It was pretty late. Perhaps 11 p.m, but besides Starbucks this was the only other café that was open at this time. Besides, this café was more aesthetically pleasing then any other. It had lanterns as lights, jazz music playing on the speakers, and it was just so.. relaxing. Can't get that in many places nowadays.

Before setting down my book on the wooden table I turned to look at what the menu had to offer. Not much called my attention, but a certain iced drink did. I stood up, getting close to the large menu to see if my five dollars would suffice. Once I saw the price I nodded and went over to the cashier, ordering the iced drink. During this process I heard the door behind me open, and like any curious person I turned around, seeing someone with their hoodie on come in.

"Ma'am, your change," the cashier girl told me. I turned around and gave a small smile.

"Thank you," I replied, getting the change and stashing it in my pocket, where it would be for the next few days till I remembered about it. When the drink was handed it to me I shivered slightly, from how cold it was of course.

"Enjoy your drink ma'am," the girl said with a sweet smile.

"Thanks, you too," I said before mentally slapping myself. I brushed it off quickly, in hopes the girl hadn't heard me and then made my way back to the table I was sitting at, only to see a hooded figure sitting there on the opposite side. I hesitated for a bit before going. I guess he didn't see that my book was on the table or something. I moved to get it before a voice was heard.

"Oh, pardon.. were you sitting here?" The boy under the hoodie asked. I looked at him, or well the blue hoodie that covered his face. Only his chin was visible, but I didn't linger on it for too long.

"Ah... yes heh," I said as I nervously got my book. I bit my bottom lip, looking around quickly for another table before looking back at the boy, who's head was still down. He was looking at, or well I guess reading a book that looked a lot like a bible, although it was one I had never seen before. "But don't worry, you seem busy reading. I'll go to another table."

"No, no, I'll leave. Sorry miss," he said a bit under his breath. I watched as he stood up, head still down as he moved to the table in front of mine. I simply mumbled a small 'okay' before sitting back down, eyes never leaving him even after his back was facing me. I simply shrugged and got a bit more comfortable in the seat, opening the book I was reading, although my mind wasn't completely there.

My eyes flickered up, staring at the back of the boy in a rather curious manner. I shook my head, going back to reading the book that was in my hands. I grabbed my drink, taking a sip from the sweet iced coffee. I hummed out happily at the taste that coated my tongue before skimming through the pages of my book. It wasn't until a while after I got a feeling that I was being watched. In a discreet manner I stretched slightly, eyes looking forward for a few seconds. I caught the boy looking over his shoulder a bit, eyes meeting mine for about a millisecond before he quickly turned his head away.

I didn't think muck about it so I simply went back to reading. The feeling would come back though, every once in a while, and if I was quick enough I would see the boy looking at me over his shoulder. It made me snicker a bit, but I held in the small noise. But as it happened more frequently I decided to act upon it. I gathered my stuff before walking over to the chair across his. I figured he wanted to talk or something and just didn't have courage to come to me. Or maybe it was something else. Who knows.
