I Was Escaping Reality...

I've been riding the train for over a year now. It became part of my dull, boring daily routine, but still, I love travelling. Looking at windows and kind of answering life's mysteries is simply wondrous. To get over the 25 minute travel, I would often read a book and create a world in my head. I would do this on a daily basis. But as they say, every day has a new story to tell.

I don't remember what day it was, but it was a rainy morning, as far as I can remember. The sky was a bit gloomy. I was at the station reading a book; waiting for the train to arrive. A girl came by and stood beside me. She was also waiting for the train. I ignored her knowing that she was just an ordinary passenger.

Seconds later, the train arrived. And as the door opened, she immediately went past infront of me. The scent of her hair was extraordinary. By then, I knew that she was not just another ordinary girl. I took a seat and noticed her infront of me. Her beautiful curvy hair had strains of brown, her lucious lips were pink, and her gleaming eyes were brown. It was love at second sight. In the first few miles I didn’t take my eyes off her, I even barely noticed anyone. Suddenly, she noticed me staring, and then she smiled. It was too awkward. I ressponded with a pretty awkward smile, then looked away blushing in shame.

Though it was an embarassing moment, my heart pounded like crazy. But still, I would check her out again and again which was actually weird... but I liked it. I felt alive...

After reaching her destination, she went off the train. I felt like there was something much more out there for me. I was in love. I risked everything by following her. And suddenly, rain started to pour. Seeing her without an umbrella, gave me a chance to make a move. I approached her and said Hi, and offered to share my umbrella with her. She said yes with a smile. And I was like, "well, that escalated quickly."

She was the most interesting person ever. She talks about everything. And we both love books, cartoons, art, history, video games, which was actually weird because most girls like girly stuff. She talked and talked. For a moment there, everything slowed down; nothing around me mattered, I was just staring at her moving lips. Then she looked at me and asked,

"Is there something wrong?"

"No. Nothing's wrong... Uhm... I hate coffee but I think we should go out and get some."

She laughed and she was like, "You're weird... but in a cool way."

"So is it okay or not?"

"It's okay."

We went to a nearby coffee shop. We talked about pointless things that would make us laugh. Then, awkward silence. I just looked at her. She wonders why I was looking. I said that she was the most beautiful thing that ever happened to me. And that she was amazing. She replied: You are really something. I like you... and...

Silence...

The train stopped...

I opened my eyes...

She left...

A sudden realization that none of it actually happened...

I just stared at the window and asked, what if? I thought it would never end. I was dragged back to the same old pit from where I came. Back to the devouring reality where nothing actually happens. Sometimes, when you're in love, and want something so much, you create something that isn't really there.

You might run across with the right person, but will you have the courage to take a leap of faith and say one simple hello? Or be a coward and wait for something which wil never happen and spend the rest of your days asking... "What if?"
