Chapter One

"Wake up. Look at myself in the mirror. Get dressed. Refuse the breakfast my mom tries to force feed me. Run off as fast as I can towards school. Barely listen to what anyone has to say. Come home. Lock myself in my room and away from the outside world."

That has been my daily routine ever since I had moved from Cuba. 10 years ago. Since then, it hasn't changed one bit. Well, not until now.

"Ms. Cabello" A voice rang and disrupted me from my inner thoughts once again.

I look up and I suddenly realize where I was. A look of annoyance crossed Mr. Miller's face as he seemed to have stopped in the middle of his daily lecture once again.

"Look, Ms. Cabello I understand that you are a nice girl. However, I do not and will not tolerate such attitude from you. It's bad enough that you haven't been doing your work lately, but will you at least pay attention and actually learn something?" He sighed loudly, snapping his book shut.

   "Um-"

I was about to apologize, for what seemed like the millionth time this week, when a I heard a loud crash in the back of the dim-litted classroom. I direct my attention to the door where a gorgeous, brunette girl stood. My eyes traveled from her head, down her body, to her legs that seemed to never end, and back up. I stopped my sights on her flawless face, catching her gaze. Her beautiful green eyes seemed to stare right into my soul. Holy crap, who is this girl?

"Ms. Jauregui, I'm guessing. You seem to have missed most of my class, but welcome to my 10th grade English class. You may sit over here by Ms. Cabello, she's going to need all the help she can get from an upperclassman as yourself" Ugh I hate him so much. Why does he hate me so much? I didn't even do anything to him.

I direct my thoughts back to the girl that seems to be half way towards me. Her lips turn into a slight smile when she notices that I have not once looked away. What can I say? She's incredibly attractive, and I'd be dumb to try and look away now. Jauregui takes a seat at the desk towards my left and we suddenly break eye contact as she turns to face towards the front of the room. Crap, I need her to look at me. Her eyes are so captivating. After getting settled in, she seems to be paying attention to the big oaf that's pacing back and forth talking about the book we were supposed to be reading. When did he start talking again?

"You know, I would be able to concentrate more if your eyes weren't burning a hole through the side of my head" She eloquently whispers, a smirk placed on her lips.

Damn, her voice. Her raspy, sweet voice. She sounds like an angel, what the hell. No one can sound that sexy.

"I'm sorry, it's just hard to not to admire one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in my life" I whisper back eyeing the side of her face her carefully.

She turns her head and winks one of those dazzling green eyes at me, "I can say the same for you gorgeous."

I can't stop the blush that creeps up to my cheeks. Something about this girl makes today feel different. On normal days, I'd just be sitting here contemplating my life and daydreaming of what could be. However, I don't have the usual urge I get when I feel like blocking the worl out. But this girl, who I have yet to get the name of, has made this day entirely different. A good different. This day could not get any better. Jauregui seems to notice my flattered state and decides to keep the ball rolling.

"Aw, did I make you speechless with my insanely amazing comebacks? Or was it my eyes that-" "Ms. Jauregui! And Ms. Cabello! Pay attention, I am not going to repeat myself one more time. See me after lunch you two" Mr. Miller cuts in with an exasperated tone.

I stiffle the giggle that tries to escape my lips once he directs his sights to the other side of the room. I look at the green eyed beauty on my left, I notice that she's also trying to hold in the laughter from her red-as-a-tomato face. Once she calms down from her state, she takes out her pen with a piece of paper and starts to write something down. She subtly nudges the piece of paper towards my left hand.

Taking the note from her and opening it, it neatly read: "By the way, my name's Lauren"

I smile, a face-splitting smile, and I dig in through my backpack searching for a pencil to use.

Finally finding one, I wrote back: "A pretty name for a pretty girl. I'm Camila but it's pronounced Cameela. It irks me when people say it the other way (:"

I hand it back to her and I felt as if the butterflies in my stomach kicked in when I see that it was her turn to blush. She confidently smiles and writes down what seemed to be her number? OH MY GOD. The next thing I know the bell rings and she starts to gather her belongings into her bag. Lauren places her hand on my shoulder and brings the piece of paper back on my desk. Once I grab it, I feel the slight pressure of her hand disappear and as I turn my head I catch a glimpse of her walking out the door.

I excitedly turn my sights back onto the paper that read "305-416-5873. Call me soon beautiful xx. -L"

I stand corrected, my day just got a thousand times better, shit.
