I opened my closet and stepped inside to see if I had anything formal to wear. After three minutes of looking I sit on the floor and make a loud huff. I hear a pair of footsteps come behind me and then soft hands on my shoulders.
"Hey, look, babe, you're in the closet figuratively and literally." My girlfriend said as she sat behind me and put her chin on my shoulder.
"This is not the time to joke around Meg. I am telling my parents that I am not only lesbian but that I am dating my college roommate." I say as I shake Meg off of my and stand up once again to look for something to wear.
"You forgot the fact that it is your birthday." Meg sings while she goes back to sit on my bed.
I take out a couple of dresses from my closet and set them on the end of my bed. I then sit next to Meg and the dresses and put my head in my hands, "This was such a bad idea. My parents are going to hate me and disown me. They will probably never talk to me ever again and then they will tell their friends and their friends will hate me."
"Hey, it's okay your parents won't hate and even if they do then fuck them. I mean don't fuck them but it shouldn't matter what the hell they think." I smile and nudge Meg making her fall onto the floor. I laugh with her and pick up the pile of dresses sitting on my bed.
"I'm going to get dressed and you should do the same," I say while walking out of my room and into the bathroom to get dressed.

Meg and I stand at my parent's door waiting for their butler to answer. I pat down my dress one last time and look at Meg to make sure that she looks okay. I can see the concern on her face but I ignore it and continue my dinner with my parent's checklist. Are we wearing formal attire? I glance down at my long black dress that gently hugged my body and showed off my curves. I then look at Meg's dark blue dress that stopped at her knees. Okay, formal attire is checked off. I was about to go through the rest of my list when I was cut off by the front door opening. I was met with the smiling face of my parent's butler, Mason.
"Good evening Mason, how are you doing?" I ask as I walk inside the house and give my coat to Mason.
"I am doing fairly well, and you Ms. Ross?" Mason asks while taking Meg's coat from her.
"Mason I have asked you too many times to just call me Jen, and I am doing very well thank you for asking. Now, where are my parents?"
"Oh, they are currently in the den having their evening tea." I smile and pull Meg towards the family den. She suddenly stops before we enter the room making me turn around to see her worried face.
"Hey, are you okay?" I step closer to Meg.
"Y-yeah I'm just a little nervous, that's all. I mean your parents are so fancy and stuff and I'm not." She says while rubbing her hand up and down her left arm.
"Oh my god, please don't let that get you nervous. My parents are British so of course, they are going to be fancy." After I heard what came out of my mouth I couldn't help but giggle and Meg soon joined in after me. I then pull her into the den where my Mother and my Father were sitting on a couch sipping tea. I sit down on the couch opposite of my parents and pull Meg down with me.
"Hello, Mother! Hello Father!" I say while giving them my biggest fake smile. My Mother then puts down her teacup and gives me a faint smile.
"Hello Jennifer, it is nice to now that you can make it to something on time." Her comment made my face fall.
"I know that you wanted me to come alone but I wanted to bring my friend Megan. She goes by Meg for short." My Mother turns towards Meg and gives her a firm but gentle handshake.
