The following week, I continued attending class and learned how to play new instruments. I didn't join any clubs or participate in any school events. I talked to some people in my class but we weren't close enough to be considered friends yet. Despite being a less than typical student, I was happy. Living each day as if it were my last day of school really made me appreciate the little things college had to offer. From walking around campus to having the freedom to do whatever the heart desired knowing that the consequences weren't severe, I was happy to wake up the next day.I woke up early to start my online linguistics class so I could get ahead. He sat at the dining table with me and just watched me read articles off of the laptop he created for me. He didn't say anything. He didn't even complain. He just sat there and stared at me. I was too engrossed in the material to tell him to stop looking. By dinnertime, I was five weeks ahead in the course so I didn't have to worry about catching up for a while. I closed the laptop and looked up and he was still looking at me. It's like he didn't move at all throughout the whole time I was studying. I'm not really sure how he could stare at me if his eyes looked like they were closed.
"I guess, you didn't have anything to do today?" I put the laptop in my bag.
"Yes, I did. I watched you study. You have nice expressions when you're in serious thought ." He continued to stare at me.
"I feel like you only have one expression." I copied his position and stared back at him.
"Is that bad?" He asked.
"No, I still understand when your mood changes. That's probably the only thing you can't hide from me." I smiled.
"What do you mean by that?" He sounded confused.
"You are pretty honest even though you are a spiritual being. I wish I could see your eyes." I tried to get him to open his eyes.
"Why are you interested?" He asked.
"Since the day I met you, your eyes have been closed. I thought it had something to do with you smiling. But, I think you're purposely closing your eyes." I continued looking at him.
"And if I was?" He smiled at me.
"There's no helping it, I guess. Even though, I bet you have nice eyes." I tried another way to open his eyes.
"You are very curious." He stood up.
"Is that bad?" I looked up at him.
"What will you do after your curiosity is satisfied? Will you be unhappy after knowing?" He walked to the living room.
"Well, isn't that the same for you?" I couldn't tell if he was was trying to pick at my brain.
"What do you mean?" He sounded surprised that I asked.
"You said that you'll stay with me until you are satisfied. What will you do after you're done with me? Will you be unhappy? Or would you find someone else to stalk and hold hostage." I stayed sitting at the dining table and pouted.
"I wouldn't be unhappy. Besides, you are the only one that I have gone this far with." I heard his voice behind me.
"What is that supposed to mean?" I turned around and his face was right in front of me.
"Nothing much. That's another nice expression." He laughed and walked away.
Once again, he was able to evade my questions. But I was so curious about him that his mysterious persona irritated me more. If all spiritual beings were this mischievous, I really didn't want to meet another one. If he was a normal human, there would definitely be more red flags.
