Lunch period. Finally. I was getting hungry. However, the weather sucks today, so we can't eat in the courtyard. But students can still go outside to food places and grab something there before returning to school. My friends and I grabbed our jackets and umbrellas and signed out to get lunch. We went across the street to that sushi place and bought some teriyaki chicken and boba tea. Once we re entered the school and signed back in, we walked through the hallway, I heard something come from behind the stairs. I walked over... and there was Jessica and Brody. Making out. Bleh! I left before they could even notice I was there. I eventually caught up with Andrea and Frida before sitting down at a table in the cafeteria. Jay and Meredith came to join us. "Hey, You guys did great in the auditions." Meredith said. "Thanks." I responded. "You did really awesome with your guitar, Meredith." I turned to Jay, already feeling my face go red. "And you Jay... Your keyboard and singing was amazing." They both smiled. "Thanks, Nora. I really liked your dancing." Jay said. I felt so warm. And then Jessica came over. What does she want this time?! "Honestly, those judges are obviously blind and they were just going easy on you! But letting you untalented dorks know, there will be different judges for the show! Music Boy, Goth Freak, Four Eyes, Fatty and AB-Nora, you're all just as talented as the dead frogs in the Science Classroom!" She turns and walks away laughing, heading to her table where Rebecca, Veronica and Brody were also laughing. Andrea stands up to pummel Jessica, but I managed to pull her back in her seat. The snobby four sat at their table and I can hear them gossiping about the other students who auditioned. After Lunch was Dance Class. Then it was time to go home. At least the weather died down at dismissal. My friends and I grab our jackets from our lockers and left. But not without hearing the snobby posse taunting me about earlier and the crowd started to chant and call me "Baby Nora" all over again. I turned my back and stormed out of the building. The bus ride was long and overly crowded with people. I walked up the hill and I made it inside my house. Mom and Dad were helping Nicky with his homework on basic multiplication. Speaking of homework, I have this stupid calculus packet due tomorrow. "I'm home." I said to them. "Hi, Pumpkin. How was school?" asked Dad. "School was fine..." I lied. "My substitute teacher started teaching us calculus, but she was really mean and going way too fast and I need help with this homework." I showed him my homework packet, he, Mom and Nicky looked at it and they all looked back at me with unease. "Sweetie...I wish I could help, but your I was a terrible student in Calculus when I was in High school." Dad said. "I'm sorry, Honey..." Mom said. "I never learned Calculus when I was in High school myself." My parents were high school sweethearts. Same school, different classes. I sighed in disappointment. Dad tried to cheer me up. "If it makes you feel any better, I'll help you with whatever I remember from class." "Thanks, Dad..." "Mommy, Daddy, I don't wanna go to High school..." Nicky complained. I spent the next four hours struggling with Dad to complete this homework. He was thinking to himself trying to remember what the letters stand for, stuttering nervously and groaning in frustration. I facepalmed so hard. Dad and I already gave up on this packet and the first page wasn't even completed. Dad just started putting random answers and equations on the rest of the pages. There's a one hundred percent chance that they're all wrong and Ms. Emmonds will humiliate me in front of the whole class every chance she gets and I'll never live it down, but if the homework isn't complete at all, I'll get the same result, plus another detention. I hate Ms. Emmonds so much.... Once Dad finished making his last wild guess, he handed the homework back to me. Thanks, Dad. Nicky came in my room. "Daddyyyyyyyyy, are you done yet?" He whined. "You and Nora were working for a million years... Mommy said dinner's almost ready." Mom made chicken alfredo pasta. I can smell it from my room. Dad, Nicky and I went downstairs to eat. I was mad enough about Ms. Emmonds' strict rules and Veronica posting a humiliating photo of me online, but I wasn't mad enough to not eat anything. I ate everything off my plate and went to bed an hour early. Before I knew it, it was morning. Another day of getting screamed at... And I have math for first period. I better brace myself.
