"Angeles Ramos," The teacher called out, squinting at the attendance sheet. The entire class went silent.

"Y-Yes, Mrs. Rowe?"

"Your backpack seems to be making quite a disturbance in my classroom."

Shit, Angeles cursed in her mind  I'm so screwed. Goddamn Luna, did you have to be such a loud bitch??

The puppy- now named Luna- she had saved earlier this morning and impulsively decided to hide in her backpack was starting to become restless, making loud whimpering noises all throughout her algebra class.

Whenever her classmates would look over in annoyance or curiosity, Angeles would just smile nervously and act like she didn't know what was going on either.

But now it looks as though Mrs. Rowe has found the source.

When Angeles didn't answer, her teacher made her way towards the back of the room where Angeles sat, and proceeded to lift up the backpack.

"Hey!" Angeles cried out, reaching for it.

"Aha!", Mrs. Rowe exclaimed triumphantly, "I have to say, Ms. Ramos, a puppy had not been what I was expecting, but now that I understand you're smuggling animals into my classroom, I shall give you a months detention."

"A MONTH?!" Angeles said, completely horrified. What would her parents think?

"Yes, you heard me correctly. Now please go take this-" She handed the backpack back into Angeles's hands- "to the front office where they will handle the situation accordingly. Good day, Ms. Ramos, and don't bother coming back to my class."

Mrs. Rowe's face was positively red, and Angeles certainly didn't feel like arguing, so she took her things quietly as the other classmates snickered, and left.

----

"I told you! What did I fucking tell you?!" Kyra groaned in frustration as Angeles recounted what happened to her in the hallway.

"I knooow, " Angeles sighed, "But I really had to do this, Kyra. At least now I know Luna's not roadkill. And she's safe in the front office, for now."

"Okay, well what are you gonna tell your parents? Now that you've managed to get in serious trouble on the first day."

"Oh come on, it's not that serious!"

"A months detention sounds pretty serious to me"

"Ugh, I need to go, but make sure to tell me all about your day later, okay?"

"Okay," Kyra replied, blushing at the familiar words. It's nothing, really. Not like she really had anything interesting to tell her friend. Nothing at all.

She turned around and walked to her next class, which was, thankfully, math.

Her day hadn't been nearly as "exciting" as Angeles's, but it had definitely been a little weak on her heart.

Let me explain.

So she was sitting there in history class, minding her own business, when suddenly the teacher announces that they're going to be working on a group project.
