"Him? Who is him?!" I exclaimed with frustration. "Are you taking me to the overlord? The readers and I have heard of him over and over, but we still do not know who he is!"
"Hahaha! You all will know in a minute or two."
Anti-Joan had on an evil smirk. Her brown hair was tied in two ponytails, and they bobbled at times. Her clothes were just like Anti-Cindy's. A vest. A skirt. Boots. Gloves. The only differences were that her clothes were red instead of black and she was not wearing an eyepatch. She did wear glasses like the original Joan.
"Did you do this?" I questioned her.
"Do what?"
Dang! Her voice was ear-piercing. Compared to my sister's, Anti-Joan's was nails on a chalkboard!
I frowned at her, and let me tell you that it is rare if I become angry. Because of my backstory and anxiety, I was unable to get mad. I would usually sob my sorrows and move on with my life. I think that this was the first time that my blood boiled.
"You are lying," I shot at her. "I can feel it. You are aware of what you did. You locked her in with toothpaste because she does not agree with you."
"Pfft! Get a grip, little man. It is toothpaste. It will not hurt her."
I was so ticked by this point that I exclaimed, "You are an idiot!"
Silence filled the air, and I played back what I had unexpectedly said. I let out a small gasp, my hands shaking. My legs quivered and felt like pudding.
My eyes shifted to Anti-Joan. Being ticked could not begin to describe how she was feeling about me.
"Did...did you call me an idiot?"
I could not speak, for I was in complete shock myself, and Anti-Joan stomped up to me and pressed the end of her ray gun to my forehead.
I am an idiot. I am an idiot for calling an evil, souless girl who had the ability to kill an idiot. But...I was so mad.
I heard her growling in my ear. Then she whispered, "If the overlord did not want you, I would kill you. And I would do it slowly because you deserve to suffer."
"No...please..."
I fell on my knees and laid my body on its side and on the ground. I was shaking in fear. Yeah, my life stunk, and it would be easier to end it all. But I am a child of the Lord, and He would not want me to do such a cruel and dark thing. Plus, I could not leave Cindy. She loved me, and I loved her. She would be devastated if I died.
"Was that a no?" The anti aimed the gun at me. "Are you denying that you called me an idiot? Or are you pleading poorly for me to let you live?"
Not looking at her, I replied, "Please...do not kill me. I do not have much to live for. Yet...I have much to live for."
She stayed silent before answering, "That does not make any sense."
"I will go with you." I scrambled back up. "I will go with you without a fight. I only ask two favors."
She lowered her gun and clutched it tightly. "And what would those favors be?"
"My first favor is to let me live. And even after your overlord is through with me, I ask that I keep on living. My girlfriend's heart may break, but it will not be crushed."
"Whatever. What is the other favor?"
"To free Ada."
"Ada? You mean Ava."
"Yes. I call her Ada. It is a long story. Anyway, please unlock the doors so that the toothpaste will flow from your store."
Why do I keep saying please to evildoers?
"Hmm. Let me think." Anti-Joan stroked her chin. "No!"
"No?!"
"You heard me. No."
"Please, please, please." I desired to pounce on her and get the key. "I will make a fuss if you do not!"
Surprisingly, it did not take long for her to give in. She put away her gun and yanked off the key that had been hanging on the chain on her skirt.
"I am only doing this because I despise prisoners who make a fuss. It is extremely annoying."
"Right back at ya," I murmured.
Anti-Joan inserted the key in both keyholes and turned it both times. Around ten seconds later, the double doors were unlocked, and she opened them. An ocean of toothpaste came flying out of the store, and along with it were foods, tables...and Ada.
Ada fell on her bottom and began freaking out. That was because toothpaste was on top of her head and stained her clothes. She tugged at her shirt and stuck out her tongue with disgust.
"Not my clothes! These were new!"
"Ada!"
I ran to her and hugged her. I did not care if the toothpaste got on my skin or stained my own clothes. I was more concerned about my new friend.
"Are you okay, Ada?"
"Uh, no! Did you see my clothes?"
"Did you ingest any of the toothpaste?"
"Not at all. I held my breath and covered my mouth."
"That is excellent. 'Cause ingesting too much toothpaste can kill you."
"That is why I am deeply afraid of toothpaste, Caleb."
Anti-Joan whistled and motioned for me to return to her. Right. I almost forgot.
"We cannot keep the overlord waiting, Caleb."
"What is she..." Ada's voice trailed off, and she realized what was going on. "Caleb...you did not..."
"I did and am sorry. I had to save you somehow and promised that I would follow Anti-Joan willingly."
"You are nuts! The overlord...he will murder you on the spot!"
"Again, I apologize. I always keep my promise. And I am not nuts. I am hard chocolate who stands firm."
