I closed my door to look upon my clean room. The books stored neatly on the shelves, clothes in color coordinated order in my closet, the bed made, and a clean desk. My room was distributed with furniture nicely, everything going together. I smiled and walked over to my bed where I saw a slim wrinkle in the covers, I pressed my hands against the cool fabric, gently smoothing it as I went. I took a step back to examine the rest of my room, I scrolled my eyes in every direction. On my desk a nice bright pink bag caught my eye. I almost forgot, my new cardigan. I went to the store today to get a plain old white cardigan to go with my outfit for my family cook out tonight. I took the nice new smelling cardigan out of the bag and into my small grasp. I decided to put it on, the new feel up against my skin gave me chill almost. I walked over to the full length mirror hanging behind my door. It looked good. I took the bag and threw it away on my way out of my room.
I walked downstairs, to go to the kitchen. My parents Elle Finn and Daniel Finn were cooking up a storm for tonights annual finn family cook out. The aroma of brisket, shrimp, and chicken surrounded me.
"Brit, can you pass me the towel," my Mom addressed me as she made a salad. I obeyed and grabbed the blue towel on the shelf to my right. "So how do like it?" I asked, taking the new cardigan into my hands and spreading it out wide. My Dad not taking his gaze away from the brisket said, "Like what?" I lowered my arms. "My new cardigan that I told you that I was getting for tonight." Mother looked my way, "looks fine." Looks fine. That I knew was the last of my compliments. I didn't really take it to heart, they were more interested in their food making. Their apathy towards me is usually low, when you live in the Finn house its not unexpected.
I went back upstairs to my room, I took a big jump onto my perfectly made bed. Not given a damn if there was one crease in the bed sheets. I sighed, "Do you like it Mr. Pur?" I was questioning my stuffed Cat that I've had since I was born. Yes, it's silly that I talk to a stuffed toy, but he has always been a sense of comfort. His smile indicted that it was a yes, "Thanks" I turned my head to the window across from my bed it showed the beautiful ocean. The waves were rough today it looks like, the perfect day to take a walk.
I got on my black slippers, and walked out of the house. I didn't even tell my parents, I'm sure they wouldn't notice that I'm gone anyway. My feet were brushing against the sand, the waves moving making sounds that relax me. About a quarter of the way, there is a bench. Nothing is special about this old wooden bench physically, but every time I need think, I go there. It seems to process my thoughts so well, seems like a therapist. I sat down on the bench, it squeaked with joy, well more like 'I'm to old for this'.
I looked out into the ocean, something peculiar caught my eye. It was moving up and down because of the waves, and it had different colors about it. I got up onto my feet, and steadily and slowly walked towards the water. The thing was closer now, I could actually get a good look. It was not just a thing, it was a body on top of a a huge piece of wood. I began to shake. What should I do? I thrashed into the water, swaying my hands. I was closer to the body now, I took hold of the wood and dragged with all my will power to shore. I flopped down to the wet sand, my heart was coming out of my chest. I slugged over to the body. It was the body of a young man, most likely my age. He had beautiful cheek bones and dark curly hair. I put pushed my ear up against his chest to see if he was breathing. I heard a thump, thump, thump deep inside him. He was alive. I took a little while just to look at him, to see if he would ever open those eyes.
I sat there for a good half-hour, nothing. I then decided to try to wake him up. I touched his cold face, with my hand. Moving them up around his jaw line, outlining them with my finger tips. I was doing this with his cheek bones now, then his eyes. I was lost in this beautiful young man, I didn't even notice his hard bright green eyes staring at me.
