The sun had set.
People flooded the streets, excited laughter and euphoric screaming echoing around Aerelon. This was the first time that I saw the night sky in years. And it was absolutely beautiful. Stars shone bright and the full moon created a gentle glow on my surroundings, the peaceful night contrasting against the bonfires, singing and dancing.
I didn't want to admit it, but I felt a small smile tug on my lips at the sight of so many people having a good time. Elise was still getting ready and I stood outside of her house, persistently growing more and more impatient. I wanted to dance...to finally feel alive.
Grabbing a rock, I threw it at her window and waited.
Seconds later, a door was unlocked and Elise came out, a gleaming smile on her face. Before I could blink I was thrown into a tight hug, and as she squeezed me tighter she began squealing.
"Why didn't you dress up?" she asked, pretending to be shocked. Comparing my state and hers made me look homeless...While I was wearing my usual attire, Elise was in a white gown which cascaded down to the floor, decorated in gems and ribbons.
"You look like you're about to get married," I laughed, looking at her as she raised her brows at me.
"You never know what beautiful man I might meet today. I need to look my absolute best,"
"Of course you do," I said.
Taking hold of my hand, Elise began dragging me towards the dancing crowds.
"So, did you meet the godlike Elder again?" she raised her brows, giggling.
"I did."
Her laughed stopped as she slapped my shoulder, "What, really? When?"
"Today,"
"Oh my god could you be any less specific. And why am I only hearing about this now?"
I sighed, "Well I'm telling you about it now, so shut up and listen wretch,"
Elise gave me a vulgar gesture, quieting down and sitting down on a log next to a fire.
I sat down beside to her as I began, "I saw him earlier today and I listened in on a conversation. They're looking for someone, and I want to find out who. Also, I didn't feel any Rythe, and there was two of the Elders. Shouldn't it have been stronger?"
