It was Christmas Eve. Sirius was looking at the Christmas tree in his and his friends' dorm room. There was a huge Christmas tree inside and Sirius didn't know how James got it in there. It took in a lot of space. They decided to get everyone something this Christmas. The Marauders normally didn't really do anything for Christmas, but now that they're seventeen they decided they should start caring about Christmas and celebrate together, because it was the last year they'll all live together in this dorm room.
Peter came up with the idea to write the things you want on separate pieces of paper and put it in a hat. Then everyone would grab a piece and they'd have to buy the thing that was written on it. They had agreed on not asking any questions about it to the person you're supposed to give it to. Sirius had spent a long time decided what he wanted. He couldn't possibly come up with anything that would make him happier than he was now. There might be one thing, but it wasn't something you could just buy. He had three pieces. On the first one he wrote 'a new pair of sunglasses (doesn't need to be expensive)'. He was going to need a new pair in half a year when it was Summer again. James accidentally broke his last year. He hoped James'd get that one so he'd actually have to buy him the glasses. When Sirius asked James if he was thinking about buying him a new pair and James refused, so this would be a great way to get his payback. On the second one he wrote 'A Christmas jumper'. He couldn't think of another thing he could want so he left it blank and put it in the hat. When the three guys each got one piece out of the hat he immediately knew who had which one. James's expression was annoyed, but Sirius knew he was holding back a laugh so he must have got the sunglasses. Peter looked fine with whatever he got and Remus had a puzzled look on his face which probably meant he had the blank one. Sirius knew exactly what it was he wanted from Remus, but it was up to Remus to figure it out. He wasn't allowed to ask any questions about it anyway.

Remus couldn't think of anything. He was annoyed at Sirius for not writing anything on. He tried to think of the options he had. He could either give Sirius something he thought he might want or he could try to figure out what Sirius actually wanted. Remus decided to choose the last option. He went up to James and James started complaining about Sirius and the fact he asked him to buy him new sunglasses. Remus asked him what the problem was and James spent around twenty minutes talking about a story he could easily have told in two. Remus decided to get to the point. "But I came to ask you something. When I took Sirius's last paper out of the box I saw it had nothing on it and I can't figure out what it means. I don't want to give him nothing even though he might say he has everything he wants. Do you know what he might've meant? I know I can't ask him anything and that's the annoying part." "I don't think I can help you, I'm sorry..." James said and Remus sighed. Then, just two seconds later, James's expression changed and he lighted up. "I might be able to give you a hint." James knew what Sirius really wanted. He didn't know if it was up to him to tell Remus, but he wanted Sirius to get what he really wanted if Remus wanted to give it too. "Please" Remus said. "Wait here." James said quickly and walked out of the room leaving Remus waiting patiently. He hoped what James had would help him. A few minutes later James got back and he had a record player in his left hand and a disk in his right. He put it down on his deak and didn't say anything. He put the disk on the record player and played the song.
I don't want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need
Idon't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true oh
All I want for Christmas is you
