Heyya, so this is my first story ever..so any comments, suggestion, or anything like that would be awesome:) Thanks!

*Jacob*

I had just finished helping Mrs. Linder fix her sink.  She is a nice older women who lives just up the hill.  She offered me some warm cookies since it was starting to snow and I still had to make my way back down the snow covered hill.  It's close to summer, but it's still coming down.  My old truck doesn't have the best heating, so i drove down the windy hill as fast as the ice would allow. I quickly hopped out of my truck, slamming the door and making a bee-line towards my house.

I live in a small farming town up in the mountains, so there's not normally a lot of big news, so when my mom's friends are over, which is pretty much all of the ladies in town, they usually only gossip about people in town and the latest scandal.  But tonight there seemed to be something much more interesting than usual, because they were all in deep conversation, I'd be damned if I was going to disturb them. I quietly latched the door, sliding out of my work boots and made my way into the kitchen shaking out the snow that was matted in my short brown blond hair.

"Jacob! How are you sweetie?"  Miss Kettles asked me in a southern accent that everyone in this little town has.  Now all the attention is on me. Yay...

"I'm great. I just finished fixing Mrs. Linder's sink, it's as good as new." I attempted to smile, but my lips were still frozen from the cold spring air.

"Your such a good boy, Jake. You should earn more for all you do."

"Thank you ma'am, I'm happy to do it." I said honestly.

"You raised a good boy, Linda." Miss Kettles complimented

" Yeah, I did." My mom smiled at that. I started to walk out of the kitchen.

"Oh! Wait Jacob, did ya hear the news??"

"No ma'am." I responded, curiosity in my voice.

"Well a girl your age is coming to live out here.  Something happened with her family and she has to come live with her grandmamma, who happens to be Mrs. Nook."  I was actually interested in this little piece of gossip.

 "Really? Where from?" I asked

"I hear she's from L.A., California."  That's great.  She's probably a prissy city girl who won't want to get her designer hand bag dirty.

"That sure is aways away. When is she comin'?" I asked, trying to be polite even though I could care less about her. She was a city girl who probably thought she was better than all of is 'hicks'.

Kelly Martin piped up, "Well Mrs. Nook told me she's comin' next week, either Monday or Tuesday."

"Well I think we should give her a proper Pillsbury welcome."  My mom squealed  with excitement. Crap. That means she'll need my help, and I couldn't really care less about this city girl.

"Oh, yes! That's a great idea! We need to start planning!" Kelly said jumping up in excitement.

They all started discussing what to cook, how to decorate, and what to do at this little party. That's when I decided to make my escape. I walked into the front room where my dad was watching football, obviously trying to escape my mom's friends constant chatter.  He's obsessed with football. Even when it's not football season he records the games and watches them over and over, you would think they'd get old, but no.  I like playing the game, but I don't like watching it on TV.

I went to my room and peeled off my jacket and put on some warm clothes. I was exhausted from working today. My job is to go around and help whenever I'm needed.  When no one needs wood chopped, doors fixed, or anything along those lines done, I'm working in the little general store ran by Al Meyers, Janet's husband.  He's a really nice guy. He doesn't always need me, but when I need something to do he always comes up with something, but I mostly sweep and work the counter when I'm there.

Our town maybe small and forgotten, but I love it and I plan on staying.

*Holly*

"What! Can you repeat that?!" I was horrified! I heard her, but I still want to make sure.

"Well honey, you see we're really in debt and this economy doesn't make things and better, so temporarily  we need you to stay at your grandmas. Just until we get out of debt. We're about to loose the car and house. I don't want to have you live on the street." I sighed. I defiantly didn't want to go all the way to Pillsbury, North Dakota, but this is for my parents.

 "Alright. I'll go."

"Thank you so much honey , I knew you'd understand. Who knows maybe something interesting will happen while you're there." I scoffed.

Like anything would happen in the tiniest city ever. It's more like village. A smile played on my lips.

People in Pillsbury get excited when a new order of chips come in. I've seen it. I went there when I was 8 to visit my grandma and everyone in the whole town was all gathered around and excited about a new shipment of these new tasty chips. It was pathetic. So I'm prepared to be disappointed and bored out of my mind. don't worry about that.

The plane ride was actually quite relaxing. I got first class tickets. I know, I know. We're already in debt, but I can't handle coach. It's so gross! I was horrified to find out that I had to get into a little crop duster plane and land in the middle of nowhere.

I got on the tiny little podunk plane and there was no one else!  It was just me. To make matters worse all of my bags were just carelessly tossed in the back, in a big pile. I truly felt like crying. After a couple hours of making pointless small talk with the pilot, we finally landed.

I got off the plane and immediately felt the cold air surround me. I had not expected it to be this cold! It was freezing! Literally.  I took a deep breath and stepped down onto the runway, just to feel my feet shoot up in the air and my butt collide with the cold, metal runway. Ouch! I felt tears prick my eyes. I took a deep breath, about to let it all out when a sturdy hand helped me up, but as soon as me feet were firmly planted on the runway he was up we was already turning and making his way back to his beaten down little truck.

"Oh um.. Th-Thank you!" I stuttered out my voice barely breaking a whisper. He just lifted his hand and didn't turn around. Just walked away. What the heck?!
