Chapter Two

London's P.O.V

I walk through the door flicking the lights on and much to my surprise, the house was empty. I poured myself a glass of cold milk and retrieved three Oreos from the pantry. A calloused hand grabs the cookies I had placed on a plate threw them across the kitchen, leaving glass small smithereens on the tiled floor. I let out a shocked scream as the same hand covers my mouth.

"You're getting bigger by the day London," Dad's evil alcohol-laced voice spat in my face. "From now on, don't eat. I don't want to waste food on you. You hear me?"

Instead of fighting back for once and spearing myself some dignity, I simply nodded. He removed his cold hand from my mouth and struck my cheek with force. I fell to the ground from all the power the slap held. I felt warm spit trickling down my face as he chuckles, leaving the kitchen.

I could have sworn I was alone.

I walked upstairs to my bedroom empty-handed, I closed and locked the door ensuring Dad couldn't enter. So many questions about Nyke dance in my mind. How he knows me, Greyson, and if he knows any more. I fished my phone from my pocket and dialed Greyson's number. Before managing to place the phone to my ear the line cuts off. What? After anticipating for five minutes I finally call him again, this time he answers on the first ring.

"Hey, baby what's up?" Greyson's breath sounds extremely short of breath.

"You alright? You sound tired," I ask, with concern lacing my voice.

"Training was rough today London," he responds. I hear a slight giggle in the background which is silenced almost immediately. "Is there a reason you are calling me, or are you just wasting my time?"

"Yes, there is one thing I wanted to ask you," I begin, taking his silence as approval to continue. "Do you know anyone by the name of Nyke Peirce?"

"Yeah, how do you know him?" he rapidly asks, after answering my question.

"He's in my calculus class," I reply, not mentioning the fact that he brought me home. I'm not quite sure how Greyson would take it.

"Stay the fuck away from him," he spits, and the line cut off. Absolutely confused, I throw myself onto the bed and sighed in frustration. At least one of my questions was answered.

Harsh banging on the door makes me sigh yet again, as I stand up to open it. Aliza. I pull her in and lock the door before Dad could appear and assault me again.

"I have something for you," Aliza quietly says. "Here," she extends her arm handing me a packet of Oreo's. Mother, Dane and I used to have precisely three Oreos every day after school. It was our little tradition. Even after Dane passed away, and Mum left me, I still eat the Oreo's every day without fail. A small part of me hopes Mum is eating them too.

"Thank you so much," I say, truly meaning it, looking at the packet, then looking down to my stomach. "But I'm not allowed to," with that, I returned the packet, pushing her out the door.

I'm so sorry Dane.

I skipped dinner, to lock myself away from company for the remainder of the night. During my 'hideout' I climbed onto the rooftop, letting the cold breeze fill my lungs and reminisced in peace. Before I knew it, the clock had 6:00am printed on the screen. Returning to my bedroom, I bathed myself and brushed my teeth. I hid the red outlined handprint my dad imprinted onto my skin beneath a layer of foundation, and covered my eyebags with a coat of concealer.

"Goodbye father," I shout as I ran downstairs and leaving the house shutting the door behind me. I was greeted by Greyson's off-white Land Rover, blasting music during the early hours of the morning.

"Turn it down Grey, people are still sleeping," I giggle emotionlessly slapping his shoulder playfully as I entered the car.

"Don't you like my song choices, Beautiful," he adjusts my face by my chin, so my eyes were level with his. He leaned forward, "Because I sure do," he breathes, our breaths mingling. He pressed his lips to mine, for a quick, yet loving kiss.

"I love you," were the only words capable of escaping my lips. It was one of the simplest kisses we had ever shared, however, he still leaves me breathless.

"I love you too, Beautiful" I reach for his hand over the console for the remainder of the drive to school.

Chaos would be an understatement to describe the eventful arrival to school. Bodies of students litter the yard directing all attention onto Greyson and I. As we drive into the school gates and further into the premises of the parking lot, students trudge behind us like a damn riot. The wheels come to a stop as I see Greyson's designated car park taken up by a familiar black car and one tall muscular figure exiting it.

Nyke.

"Fucking idiot," Greyson growls as he turned the car off, stepping out the car. I jumped out of the car too, to prevent this day from being Nyke's last.

"Hey, Greyson," Nyke smugly says walking towards Grey.

"Move your car before I do," Greyson threatens, however, Nyke didn't seem intimidated in the slightest.

"Greyson, there are other car parking lots, come on," I attempt to reason sweetly. Greyson turned to face me, anger visibly filling his eyes.

"You're gonna stand up for this asshole? This is my parking lot, everybody fucking knows that" he spat at me.

"Stop it. You are acting so immature. He is new, how is he supposed to know that this is your parking lot?" I snap. He is being overly unreasonable about a slab of concrete.

"I agree with Lonnie, Greyson" Nyke remarks, placing his muscular arm over my shoulders. Just by the shift of Greyson's posture, I can sense war is brewing in the mind of his. Like I had expected Greyson struts towards Nyke, venom igniting his eyes. Without hesitation, Greyson's fist connects harshly with Nyke's jaw rocking it out of place by the heavy impact. By force, I fall to the hardness of concrete, my head colliding with the pavement, from Greyson's attempt to remove me from reach as he continues to fight Nyke.

The world around me is beginning to spin, and my eyelids grow heavier and heavier as I fell into a deep slumber.
