It was finally my favourite part of the song, the chorus was blasting into my ears. I was chilling in my room, which my mom thought I was doing homework, yet in reality I was not.
DING DING
“Emily honey, could you get that please!” My mom called from downstairs.
Ugh, I rolled my eyes. It was almost impossible to yank the headphones out of my ears because it was my favourite part.
I slowly descended down the loft of stairs until I reached the bottom.
DING DING
“I’m coming!” I yelled kind of annoyed.
I placed my hand on the door knob slowly and twisted it to the right. I could make out two figures from the other side, but who?
As the door slowly opened I was able to tell it was Colton and Kai. I had almost forgotten they had stopped by a store for snacks. I was relieved to see them.
But as usual, I just acted as if I did not care.
It’s true though, I mean I did care for Colton, not Kai.
“Nice to see you too Em.” Colton replied.
I heard Kai give a quiet chuckle.
I ignored both of them and made my way to the kitchen where my mom had just finished putting a batch of cupcakes in the oven.
“It’s Colton and Kai.” I assured her.
She smiled as she saw them walk in.
“I am dearly sorry Mrs. Cooper. We got hungry after a few rounds of basketball. I mean your son, great basketball player.” Kai smiled at my mom.
“Thanks Kai.” Colton seemed to be genuinely happy.
No one really told him he was a great basketball player before so he seemed to enjoy the moment.
“I’m glad you boys had fun.” My mother nodded.
“Well, if you need anything please let me know, and again my apologies.” Kai repeated.
Why is he being so damn nice?
Is he not? My conscience questioned.
Shutup, remember you don’t like Kai, I told myself.
I finally snapped out of my daze only to see Kai walking to the door that lead to the basement then gently shutting it behind him.
