aubrey chadwick totally did the whole 'rebelling against your pureblood parents and running off from home' thing long before sirius black did, by the way. and yet no one seems to care. granted, she's not the friendliest girl in the world and no one noticed the quiet girl around hogwarts much anyways. even at home (her old home before she ran off), she was ignored and mistreated. both parents were abusive and controlling, faithful death eaters who were trying their best to mold their only stubborn daughter into their perfect little image. but barb's not the kind of girl to listen to rules. never has been.
her rebellious, courageous streak only comes out more as she gets older which is to no one's surprise when she lands herself in gryffindor unlike slytherin as intended. that had sent them over the edge. bruises and cuts were often hid behind long sleeves and although they tried their hardest, they didn't break her. to be fair, she's still traumatized even after leaving and staying with her muggle side of the family. sometimes, she acts out and gets into fights. sometimes, she says the first thing that's on her mind. but she's not broken - aubrey won't give them that power.
determined to do differently this new year around, barb's actually trying her best to not get in trouble. but trying only lasts a week before she buries her fist into lucius malfoy's nose and suddenly she finds herself back in trouble once more. not only are her grades slipping but she's several accidents and fights away from getting expelled. who comes to her rescue? surprisingly, lily evans - a girl she doesn't even know - who agrees to help tutor her and get her academic life back on track. despite being wary of the fiery haired girl's intentions, aubrey reluctantly agrees - figuring it wouldn't hurt.
