"Okay, are you all ready?" Adele called out excitedly from inside the stall. It was bright an early on Sunday morning. Days had passed since the dinner, and the more that the bridal party stayed at Adele's house, the more everyone was able to realize just how close the wedding date really was. I️ mean, in two weeks time we'd be preparing for the bachelorette/bachelor party and that itself meant that things were getting down to the nitty gritty. Despite all the time that had passed, the bridesmaids had yet to see Adele's official wedding dress. She had decided to get one custom made, and with the money that Leo had put aside for this wedding, she was able to make it possible. We all waited outside at the seating area, holding onto each other as we prepared for Adele to walk out. Whatever issue any of us had had before went out the window when it came to today.
The sound of the door unlocking and footsteps following allowed everyone to direct their attention to the walkway. Down the makeshift runway came Adele, dressed in her official wedding gown. It looked even better than she had described it. Adele wasn't a tall girl, but the silhouette of the dress made her look so much taller. The entire dress was composed of pure white lace, and despite Adele's concerns with lace being too old-fashion, the designer had made it as modern as possible with the sweetheart neck line and tight bodice that hugged her body in all the right places. The bottom fell out in a mermaid-style fashion, with just a hint of train. It looked amazing on her, and I️ wasn't one to get emotional during the whole wedding process, but seeing Adele in this dress definitely made me tear up a bit.
"Oh yeah, this is the one." Alisha exclaimed, clapping her hands as she glanced at the dress with pure excitement. Mama Nikki stood off to the side, wiping away at the tears that were continuously falling down her face, and Mama Sharr stood right beside her comforting her newfound friend. "Stop with all the dramatics, y'all are gonna make me cry." Adele spoke, fanning her face as if that was going to stop the tears from coming. She turned around, facing the mirrors that were lined up against the wall behind her. She looked satisfied with the outcome of the dress, which was exciting because prior to having it on today, she was getting a little nervous. She had already started thinking of backup plans in case the dress didn't turn out the way she wanted, but it seemed like now she wouldn't be needing any of that. Hannibal, the young man who assisted her with the whole dress process stood to the side, awaiting her response. It was just like the show—every one was wondering whether or not she was going to say yes to the dress.
"So, is it a yes?" Hannibal questioned. Adele nodded her head. "I️'m saying yes to the dress!" Adele exclaimed. Everyone began clapping in excitement as if Adele had just made the biggest announcement of her life. I️n a way, it was. This was the dress that was going to walk her down the aisle and into the hands of the person who was going to (hopefully) love her for forever. "Oh I️ wish your father was around to see this," Mama Nikki spoke exasperatedly. Adele's father had unfortunately passed away about two years ago, right after the two of them began to rekindle their relationship. Adele and her father, Wayne, hadn't had such a positive relationship with each other ever since him and Mama Nikki divorced back when Adele was in middle school. It wasn't until after Adele reached out to him that they decided to make things work. Adele liked to act like she wasn't too phased by the lost of her father, but deep down I️ knew she was. The main reason why she wanted to reach out to him was so that her father could have a relationship with her son. Adele always had a close relationship with her grandparents, and she wanted the same for her son. Despite the fact that Mama Nikki didn't necessarily enjoy her late ex-husband's presence, she knew a wedding was something that every father should experience with their daughter at some point. Adele nodded her head, playing around with the gold necklace she had inherited from her father the day he died. I️ hadn't seen her take it off since she got it.
