History and beauty

"History is everywhere.
What we chose to do makes history.
It always effects someone's life, or decision.
You can change history by one thing you do.
So be careful."

Who do you think said that?
Manifestly my history teacher
And his name is Mr.Right.

This is how I think of history:
It's a decision, or choice of choosing
Left or right
There's a BIG difference.

I'd choose right
I would get a lot of friends if I did
And I will.

My home teacher, Mrs.Pullman, says
"Topanga, share your beauty report!"

So I do, to everyone
Even the people I hate:

"Beauty is in the inside and outside.
It will always have flaws.

"On the outside, it doesn't really matter.
You can look really pretty, or not that pretty, and be nice.
But then you can look pretty, or not that pretty, and act ugly."
Everybody laughs.
Dang, this is going to be a challenge.

"Anyway, what causes us to do that
Is our inside instincts.

"Our heart is filled with great things:
Hope
Love
Compassion
The impossible
Imagination
Prodigious beauty."

People question me like I don't know what I'm talking about.

"Prodigious means huge.
Anyway, those things in our heart
Make us feel great, and make us do kind things.

"But then, anger can over come your heart
To a dark heart.
And that makes us do bad, ugly things
That make people afraid of you.
Then your heart will be filled with bad thoughts:
Sad memories
Betrayal
Heartbroken
Hurt
Revenge
Sadness."

Now I know people are REALLY paying attention.

"Don't let that anger and sadness overcome you.
I know people who have been overcomes by that
And they hurt me.
They hurt my heart.
But I didn't let that get to me.

"I know that sticks and stones may brake my bones
But words will never, ever hurt me.
And you know who you are.
You know you did this to me.
I would forgive you.
But would you say sorry?"

I am going to say what I said in the beginning of my poetry journal.

"Sometimes life seems unfair.
It always rains the hardest on the people who deserve the sun.
I deserve the sun, but I always get, the overcomer's."

People are really listening.

"My skin isn't paper. Don't cut me.
My face isn't a mask. Don't carve it.
My size isn't a book. Don't judge me.
My life isn't a film. Don't end me.
I am beautiful. Don't tell me different.
Thank you."

Everyone starts clapping.
And now they are standing up and clapping.
A standing ovation.

I chose right. It totally paid off.
