Chapter six: Year one

Severus his his face in the Slytherin Common Room and he did not greet Lucius with even a courteous nod. Lucius didn't glance at Severus as he slouched up to bed.

After Lily ignoring him, his day had stayed as bad. Nothing could be worse than that. Bellatrix stormed in with her sister and Severus blocked her incessant screaming. Most Slytherins's had either gone to bed or were lounging on armchairs in the Common Room, chatting.

Bellatrix's mouth moved and her sister flew up to the Girls dormitory. Bellatrix's mouth moved again as she spun to face him. Severus' face was the opposite of her's, his face was inpasive. Bellatrix pulled her curved wand out and pointed it at Severus' heart. His eyes hardened.

"Cru- Please, Snape! It's Lily Evans, isn't it or that awfully weak Long bottom? Look, I won't tell anyone. Just tell me!" Bellatrix begged. Her face was hungry as she leaned closer. Her eyes twinkled as Severus opened and closed his mouth.
"How do you know who I'm friends with?" Severus blurted. His face was cream-coloured. Bellatrix tapped her brain simply with her finger. It was true, any afair that a Slytherin or pure-blooded student, Bellatrix knew and took it as her job to know.
"Tell me or I'll kill you and you know I have the strength to do it," Bellatrix muttered just loudly enough for Severus to hear. Severus crossed his arms and pulled his hair over one of his eyes.
"Fine, it was to do with both of them," Severus turned his back on Bellatrix and stiffly walked away to the dormitory. Lucius' blonde hair was falling on his face smoothly. Christopher snored but Severus didn't give a fig. Bellatrix called up but Severus ignored her and thumped onto his bed on his stomach.
He couldn't go to sleep that night with the words echoing in her head:
'Lily told me how you haven't seen her in months'
At the crack of dawn, Severus stumbled into the Great Hall. He, Alice, Frank, Remus, James, Peter and Sirius were the only ones awake.
"Morning," Alice smiled at him. Frank glared at him as he had always detested him like non-Slytherins. Severus stumbled on, wincing as he passed The Group.
Finally, he fell down on the Slytherin bench and stuffed his mouth full of toast. Bellatrix joined, a minute later but didn't say anything. Severus left in a hurry.
