Chapter 3

“I am sorry to announce that the patient had dead due to severe brain injury led to long time lack of oxygen in brain. I am here to express my sincere condolence. I am sorry. ” The surgeon said, as his face full of grief as if he deemed every patient as his children.

After heard of what surgeon said, Jessie became languid out of the blue and dropped the floor sobbing while her husband knelt embracing her. The big man, breadwinner, at this tough moment, also wept as if there was nobody watching over them. They didn’t speak a word as they don’t know what to speak. They hoped this was just a nightmare and everything would pass by the time they woke up. However, they can’t deny as Angus’s death is a cruel fact.

Claire staring into the air and felt as if the world was going to end and her life was going to end as well. She felt her whole body became so heavy especially her heart. The heaviness of her heart and soul made her no longer can stand. That’s why she then leaned against the wall and bended down with her hand covering her crying face. Every pieces of memory she had with Angus vividly flown her mind as she shedding bitter tears. The first time Angus held her hand. The first time Angus hugged her. The first time they kissed and so on. She felt breathless also. It was too much for a younger girl to bear.

“I have said before this whore would bring bad luck to our dear son, you see, my sixth sense damn real. But you guys didn’t believe me!!! ” Jessie moaned as pointing her finger at Claire but her body still sat on the floor. When the words spoken out, Claire became even guilty while gazed at Jessie with her look of misery and said “I…am…so sorry….sorry…sorry”. “No use saying sorry…It can’t bring Angus back…I want my son back” Jessie said and she was undeniably agitated at that moment. “Dear, don’t be like that as Angus didn’t want to see you crying and suffering for him.” Edward finally spoke, to make his wife feel better.

At this moment, the waiting area outside operation theatre was filled with sorrow. The air was filled with the odor of depression. A few hours ago, for Claire, the world and the stuff still seemed brilliant but now everything is just dull. How does Claire lives without Angus? How does Claire goes through the following days?

Claire was allowed to leave the hospital as there was no any serious thing in her body but she got a serious “thing” inside her heart. So, she left the hospital by taking a cab and back to her dormitory. Angus and she weren’t cohabited as Angus failed to get her mom’s nod. Even though they didn’t live together, they do know each other’s life habit, flaw and of course true colors.

Claire’s dorm was relatively small but it contained everything one’s daily life should have. When you stepped in her dorm, the first thing you can sight is the desk in front of the window and her bed is next to the desk. There is an attached bathroom on the left hand side of the room while the opposite of it is her closest and body length mirror which are necessary for female.

As Claire staggered into her room, she didn’t do anything else but she took out a well-decorated photo album from the drawer of the desk. When she opened the album, all the memories of Angus and herself burst out and fulfilled her room. She carefully beheld through every photos she shot with Angus. Every picture represented every piece of their sweet memories. While she went through, she has a sudden flashback of Angus & herself :

Claire and Angus had known each other in secondary school in their age of 13. In the very first class of the year, teacher had required all the students to introduce themselves in front of the class. Since the ice-breaking, Angus and Claire had become a good friend who always had plenty of things to chitchat with each other as they had shared the same interest which was enjoying fiction. Together, they had read fiction in library during rest period and had often discussed about the plot. Apart from together reading in library, Angus had also invited Claire to his house to show her his favorite giant collection of novels and Claire had just liked every book he had collected. What she had done at his house was just reading his books and delightedly chatted with Angus about the content.
