In love With My Friend

Chapter 5

   As I walk to school,Skyler's face last night can't leave my mind and it breaks my heart. Is everything alright? By the time I reach school,the first person I see is Patricia who walks up to me shaking her head. I hate when people shake their head at me.

  "Good morning to you too" I say rudely wanting to walk pass her but she stops me

  "You seriously broke Skyler's heart the other night" she quickly speaks

  "What?!" I'm not sure what I've heard

  "I'm serious" we start walking to class together "you literally played with his feelings"

  "I...but he doesn't..." I'm short of words and my mouth is dry

  She puts her arm over my shoulder "he likes you. He's liked you since forever"

  "What do you mean?" My voice is shaking and I'm to confused to think

  "Remember when we were in the tenth grade and we were like close with the eleventh grade..." I bite the side of my cheek as I try to remember "yea,his liked you since he met you"

  I run both my hands right through my hair exasperated and that's when I notice Skyler walk pass me. My eyes follow him willingly but he doesn't even look up at me. Was Patricia right?

  "Hey" I say as soon as I see Skyler is seated all alone after school. He must be really pissed at me cause he didn't bother me today. He didn't even sit with me during lunch break.

  "Hi" he says and looks up at me

  "Can I sit?"

  "Sure" He scoots over to give me enough space

   I close my eyes before I start "Are you alright?"

    He feigns a smile at me "I'm alright"

    "About the other night ..." when he heard what I said he looked up at me,staring at me eagerly "I meant what I said. I do like you,it wasn't a prank like Emily said. I'm sorry if I hurt you"

  He sighs "it's alright. I was literally broken tho,it literally tore me apart. I could hardly sleep. I hope nothing like that happens to you" I stare at him and do nothing but nod.

  "But I hope you don't think I'm trying to use you to get Liam out of my head"

  "No,I don't think so"

   I bite my lips and before I think of something more to say,his friend Fred comes over "Becca,hey"

  "Hi" I answer him trying to be as nice as I can

  "Skyler are you ready?" Fred asks him and Skyler nods as he waves me goodbye and leaves.
For some reason he's just so cold,maybe he really doesn't like me. I wish I could take everything back and he would just forget everything and we could get our friendship back. I sigh. I'm such an idiot.

  "Josh I'm home" I half scream walking into the house. I'm sure his up with his girlfriend but I'm shocked when I walk into the kitchen to see him and Danielle laughing and talking as they have some fruits "Danielle" I silently say as she turns to look at me.

  She first looks up to Josh before looking at me "Becca,hey" her voice is a bit shaky. Josh is just plainly staring at me

  I look away from him and back to Danielle "what are you doing here?"

  "Wanted to sleep over." She smiles

  "Yah,cool. Let's go up to my room" I say turning away. I could agree there was tension in the air and both probably would have expected me to speak up but I'm pretty sure everything was cool. Besides I'm not really in the mood. By the time we're both done freshening up,we tuck ourselves into my bed and we decide to talk.
