Kehlani

Why the HELL do I continue to let this fucking murderer stay here; the same house as my daughter? Letting her get close to her; calling her her own? All of this is going through my head right now.

She killed Aaliyah's mother, her parents, her brother, DJ, and I bet there's so much more. I chuckle to myself, she is not going to make me crazy like she did with Dinah.

Just then, Liyah comes running in and hops on my lap, "Hi, Mamá!" I laugh at my little ball of energy. "Hey, baby girl. Whatcha up to?" She smiles with her finger in her mouth, "Mommy told me to come get you."

I furrow my eyebrows, "Why?" She shrugs, "I dunno, but Mommy call Miss Sammie to take me to the park."

Nervousness creeps up at the thought of being alone with that psycho. "Miss Sammie coming to get you?" What about Abel since it is his day to come get her. Just as I say that, a light knock sounded at our door. I pick Mila up and go to answer the door.

On the other side was a short, red-head, smiling, "Afternoon, Kehlani. Here to take this little bug to the park," she says, tickling Liyah earning a laugh from the small child.

I hand her over to her and gave Mila a kiss on the forehead, "Be safe and be good, ok?" She nods and they turn to leave. I close the front door, heart thudding in my ears.

"Oh, Lani?" Confusion takes over my features as I ascend up the stairs. I make my way down to my room, where Camila is laying on my bed wearing one of my t-shirts.

"I want to treat you today," she says as she gets up. I raise my chin slightly, "Why?" She wraps her arms around my neck, "Because it's your birthday." Damn I forgot about that. "Thought I'd celebrate it with you," she smirks. The fuck is she planning?

Camila's birthday is in a few days and she's been talking about how she wants to decorate her room like her old one back home.

On my way back home, I pull over and stare at myself in the rearview mirror. I look a hot mess. A hot ass mess. I sigh and continue home. The next couple of days fly by and it's officially her birthday..

I go into Camila's room, where she's getting dressed, "Lani!" She races over to me and jumps on me before giving me a passionate kiss that I automatically return. She hops down and pouts,

"What's wrong, Teddy Bear?" Who the fuck is Teddy Bear? I ignore that question and look down at her, "Mils, I'm fine, for the most part. Just tired, I guess."

She hangs her head slightly and pouts. I lift her chin to look at me with a smile. Her naive, brown eyes look up at me. "Happy birthday, Mila," she gives me that bright smile and I kiss her forehead.

"Thanks, Teddy" I quirk a brow, "Why do you call me that?" I asked and she shrugs, "You're just so cute and cuddly. Y-you don't like it?" She pouts again.

I groan jokingly, "Ay, mamita, I like it, I guess. Never had a nickname like that. It's...different," I say. Her eyes light up and for a second, I forgot she's still a psychopathic killer.

"Might wanna wake Aaliyah up, I wanna go to that place you told me about. What was it?" She snaps a few times as she thinks. I chuckle in amusement, "Crazy World?" She nods eagerly, "Yeah! I wanna go, it sound fun!"

Crazy World is somewhat like a small Disney World located in Oakland; it has a shit ton of thrill rides, a little area for small kids, like Liyah, and international restaurants that has pretty much everything.

It's honestly the most exciting thing around this town. "Alright, I'll go wake Baby Girl up." God, I really don't wanna go.

Camila

Other than Crazy World and what Lani had in store for me later that day after dropping Aaliyah off with that Sammie girl, I had a pretty okay birthday. It was way better than my last, since I was damn near killed.

At the moment, I'm home alone while Kehlani goes to handle "business". She's been so caught up with me and Liyah, she didn't get to work.

Liyah is off with the redhead, since she couldn't get in touch with Abel. I wonder why. Oh, yeah, I stabbed him until I saw his soul disappear.

I decide to plug my phone up to the radio speaker and play soft oldies' music. Barrett Strong's Money instantly played. I make my way down the stairs and into the kitchen.

There is this little room located next to the stove, which is Lani's study. I push the slightly cracked door and a wooden desk sat at the far end of the room.

It's pretty spacious, but messy.

Papers are scattered everywhere and the trash can beside the desk is overflowing with empty energy drink cans and junk food wrappers.

The fuck does she do in here? I take a step inside, moving towards the messy desk and examine an old newspaper article.

November 17, 2007

A man and a woman found dead after a fiery car crash caused by a drunk driver, 19 year old, Daniel Cole. A 12 year old girl and a 14 year old boy, were found unconscious in the back seat, but are alive. The pair were identified as Myer, 37 and Dena Tesfaye, 34.

Their bodies were charred and the children only sustained minor injuries. The siblings are now in Oakland's Community Hospital getting treated. All we can do now, is pray.

"What are you doing in here?" A soft voice calls out, causing me to jump. I clutch my chest, "Lani, I-I was just, um," I struggle to explain. She just takes the newspaper out of my hand, keeping eye contact. "Why did you like about your parents leaving you?"

"Because... I still feel guilty after that night. Abel had to get stitches and a broken wrist. All I had was a little bump on my head," She sighs, so much anger laced behind it. The memories getting to her.

"I don't go around telling motherfuckers that my folks dead. Me and Abel just kept it goin'; moved outta Oak and started new here. We raised each other. We're all we got, we're all we need." A pang of regret tingles up my spine hearing her say that.

"I'm so sorry, Lani," tears wells up in both of our eyes. She sniffs and wipes her face, "Pops always said to...look after each other, even if we argue and fight constantly."

She shakes her head, "Thank God I still have Abel and Aaliyah, or I might as well be dead." I bite my bottom and fiddle with my fingers. "Mila, you ok?" I sigh as a single tear rolls down my face.

"Baby, there's something I've got to tell you."
