Flashbacks of that horrible day haunted my sleep that night. The car crash, waking up to find my parents dead, the blood and lung. Everything about that night haunted me. Not only was it full of death, it was full of loneliness which was my worst nightmare from the beginning of my life. Even at the age of 4, I was afraid to lose my parents but God decided it would be a crel joke to make my life a living hell by killing them.
I woke up in a state of panic, cold sweat making me shiver even though I was burning up. Tiffany slowly opened up her eyes and yawned, looking at me with her sea green eyes. "Zeno? Are you ok?" she yawned, rubbing her eyes as she sat up. "I'll be fine. It was just a nightmare. Anyways, are you hungry? I'll go get us some granola bars if you are." I asked after giving her a reassuring hug. "Oh... Sure!" she giggled and hid back under the covers. "I'll wait here, it's too cold to get up yet." "Ok, i'll be back quickly." I yawned as I got up and stretched, letting my feet adjust to the freezing wooden floorboards.
I exited the room, quietly shutting the door behind me so I wouldn't wake anyone up. Carefully, I tip toed down the stairs, making them creak only two times. As I reached the bottom, I could hear what sounded like some sort of moaning which I didn't really pay much attention to since the head misstress sometimes moaned. I walked into the kitchen and almost threw up as the smell of rot and iron engulfed my whole sence of smell. What the hell! This is disgusting! I groaned and turned into the kitchen area, grabbing some granola bars in a hurry so I could get some air into my lungs that were about to explode any minute now.
I looked down at the ground and gasped at the sight before me.
Brian was moaning and groaning as he ate something. No. SOMEONE. He was eating the cook, chuncks of flesh and insides were attached to his teeth and hands. I didn't realize he was looking at me until he growled and pounced on me, almost taking a chunk out of my arm as he hungrily attacked me for my flesh. Eventually, I knocked him off but that didn't stop him for long before he was trying to bite me again. I knew what I had to do but I had nothing to do it with. I had to destroy the brain. I knew this since i was 12 when I watched a zombie movie with the teenagers. I couldn't sleep for a week after that but I'm glad now that I watched it.
I snapped out of my thoughts when I spotted a knife in the cook's hand, soaked in blood with a couple carrots attached here and there. I struggled with keeping Brian off while I reached for the knife. Brian snapped profusely at my neck everytime he got a little bit closer to finishing me off. Eventually I got the knife and sqeezed my eyes shut as I stabbed it into his skull, making a squishing sound as it went in. I pushed the lifeless corpse off me and grabbed the granola bars that I had dropped, stuffing them into my oversized pockets. I stood over the body and gagged as I pulled out the knife, making a suctioning sound as it exited the skull. Brain and brain matter attached itself to the knife so I had no choice but to clean it off so I could take it with me.
I was super careful this time as I tip-toed up the stairs and to my room. I opened and closed the door with the same ammount of silence so I wouldn't draw any attention to Tiffy's and my location. "Tiffy! Tiffy! Wake up!" I whisper yelled as I shook her nonstop. "I'm up, I'm u-...." She said as she sat up, stopping suddenly with a look of horror on her face. "Z-Zeno? Why are you covered in b-blood?" her voice wavered as she pointed to my shirt. I walked over to the mirror in my bathroom and stared at my blood-covered shirt. Bloody hand prints were everywhere on my upper body. My blonde hair had splotched of blood in it and right below my almost gray, blue eyes, I had bloody saliva that dripped out of Brian's mouth. "Tiffy, you have to listen to me. grab our runaway backpacks out of the closet and set them on the bed. I will explain soon." "No. Explain now or else I wont do it." she argued which made me groan. I quietly washed up and as I was dressing in clean, warm clothes, I explained everything that happened downstairs.
"I don't believe that. Zombie's are fake." She growled as she got the runaway backpacks and placed them on the bed. I stuffed the granola bars in them and grabbed some of her spare clothes out of my dresser. "Really? Then why was I covered in blood and some pieces of guts?" That shut her up. "Anyways, Tiffy, put this on otherwise you'll freeze." I said as i tossed the spare clothes to her. "After you put that on, we are going to go through the window and grab the head mistress' car. You have to get in as fast as you can. Got it?" I explained as i reached in my backpack and dug out a spare set of keys. Tiffy nodded and headed over to the window, tossing her bag down before she moved away. I tossed mine down and jumped out. A jolt of pain coursed throughout my legs but I shook it off so I could unlock the door. As soon as it unlocked, I turned around just in time to catch Tiffy. "Wait for my signal next time." I groaned as I put her down. "Sorry. Be fast. Zombies are coming." she said quickly as she jumped into the passenger side and shut the door, locking it only on her side.
I dashed to the driver's side and oped the door, climbing in and shutting it as fast as I could which was a good thing because as soon as I shut the door, a zombie threw itself against my side of the car. I started up the car and double locked the doors. SHIT! I don't know much about driving... I groaned internally as I put the car in reverse, knocking over some zombies and crushing them under the tires. Good thing this was a pick up truck which gave us a lot of space to see behind. Eventually I got the truck onto the road and put it in drive, running over some zombies as I struggled to get the steering and speed under control. "Time to get as far away from this as possible. Good job." I said as I glanced over at Tiffy and smiled. "Yeah. You too!" She giggled, letting out a sigh of relief. "Go ahead and get comfy, we'll be driving for a while." "Ok." she yawned and closed her eyes.
I stared at the empty road, littered with a few zombies here and there. Mom, Dad, I'm glad you two aren't here for this.
Hey chickadoos! Here's the first chapter of the book. Hope you enjoy this one since it took me three hours today to create it. Yep, that's right, I started at 4a.m. and ended a little over 7a.m.
It would really help me out if you comment and vote. I'm really enjoying writing this one so far even though I only wrote 2 parts so far. As you can tell, I love zombie's so this is just a blast and a thrill.
I'm not really good with words so now i'm signing off. Computer is almost dead
