Waiting

My POV

Water drops from the ceiling of the dark wearhouse. The blonde girl checked her watch, impatiently tapping her foot. She has been waiting since Sundown. And it's midnight now. She let's out a huge sigh. Maybe this was just a trick. Maybe he really wasn't coming. She hears a sound, she quickly turns around and points her gun. Seeing a moving silhouette, quickly running to hide behind a pillar. " Come out now! " She ordered, her voice echoed through the warehouse. No matter how threatening she was trying to sound, her voice came out as soft as a whisper. She never wanted to be put into this situation. Out comes a small child, his hands in the air. Lucy was completely shocked. " How... Old are you? " She asked. " 10 " The boy answers, spitting venom. " Who sent you here? " She asked putting her gun down. " I wouldn't be so quick to let your guard down " He said with an evil smirk. She moved her head to the right and a bullet flies past her head into the wall. " Who said that I dropped my guard? " She asked, while her head was tilted. " What's your deal? " He asked. Lucy points the gun behind her and shoots the man that was there, as the boy flinched. Lucy smiled. She walks closer. " Stay away from me! " He said. She kept walking and stands in front of him. She bent down and ruffled up his hair. " Are you okay? " She asked sweetly, with a genuine smile. The boy was surprised. Never had an enemy been so nice to him. The door opened revealing the shadow of a figure. Lucy hugged the boy close to her. " Who's there? " She asked. The figure becomes more than one. Five in total. She squints her eyes and sees some old 'friends' of hers. " I need you to stay with me. Don't go anywhere " She said to the little boy. He nodded and hugs her. " Give me the kid and no one gets hurt " One voice said. " You know these people kid? " She asked. He shakes his head. Lucy sighed. " I don't feel that's in my best interest " She said then shot the one in the front in the head. She kills all of them. " Now kid, tell me why you were sent here? " She asked. As mean as he tried to look, the pain was evident in his eyes. " M-my friend Wendy was kidnapped. And if I don't k-kill you she will be hurt " He stuttered, on the verge of tears. Lucy hugged the boy. " It's okay. I'll rescue your friend " She said. No one had ever shown him this kindness before. Not since he got kidnapped. Lucy was furious. She hated it when kids got involved in things they shouldn't even know about. She was about to leave then she realized why she was in the wearhouse in the first place. " We have to stay here a bit longer " She said. He nodded. " So what's your name kid? " She asked. " Romeo " He answered. Lucy smiled. " I love that book " She said.

~An hour later~

Romeo was getting tired. Lucy sits down. " Come, go to sleep " She said. He sits next to her and lays his head on her lap then falls asleep. Half an hour later Romeo is still asleep. A couple hours still sunrise. The door opens, and Lucy groaned. " You out here?! " Asked a familiar voice. " Jeez! Took ya long enough " Lucy said. " You know what they say, better late then never " He shrugged. " Thought it was gonna be never " She mutters. " What? " He asked. " Nothing! Now let's go! " She said getting up. She was careful not to wake Romeo. She carried him on her back.
" Who's the kid? " He asked. " Don't know " She shrugged. " What do you mean? " He asked. " I'll tell ya later, let's just go " She said. Natsu shrugged and they go out to his car. Lucy puts Romeo in the back seat and then gets into the passenger seat.

~At destination~

Natsu gets out the car and leans on the side Lucy is on. " So are you getting out or not? " He asked. " Nah I'm just gonna watch the kid? " She said. He nods." Be back in a jiffy " He said with a wink. Lucy rolled her eyes. Lucy looked in the rear view mirror. She saw Romeo peacefully sleeping and couldn't help but smile. He was only ten, and involved in all of this for no reason. He should be in school, not out here where there's drugs and heists and what not. There was a knock on the window. Lucy rolled it down, to reveal a big bald brute of a man. " Names Taiju " He said with a grin. " Didn't ask. " She shrugged. " So, what's a little girl like yourself doing out here all alone? " He asked. Lucy was just annoyed. " I'm not by myself, if you didn't see the kid in the back " She shrugged. " Oh c'mon doll face, what's wrong? " He asked. She grabbed him by his collar. " Listen asshole. Don't ever call me that again! " She said gaining the attention of the people around them. " Only one person can ever call me that, and you look nothing like him! So you ever call me that again and I'll kill you, got that? " She warned. The man smirked. " You think you can beat me huh? " He asked. " I don't think anything. I know! " She said. " I see, your pretty confident. So how bout a little wager? " He asked. Lucy raised an eyebrow at him.

~A couple minutes~

The whole crowd was surrounding the two. Natsu came out. " What's going on? " He asked. " Some blonde girl is about to fight Taiju! " This guy told him. " Blonde girl...? " He asked. Then he realized he was talking about Lucy. " I'm confused. How exactly did this happen? " He asked. " He called her... Doll? " The guy answers, confused.
" Shit shit shit shit shit! " Natsu panics as he pushed through the crowd. " Luce! " He said. Lucy snapped her head over to him. Taiju smirked. " It's not good to look away during a fight! " He said then threw a punch at Lucy, which she caught. " Didn't your mother teach you that it's not right to hit a girl? " She asked, then twisted. So he flew to the side. The crowd moved out the way so he wouldn't hit them. Taiju pushed himself out the wall. " You asked for it Blondie! " He said running to her. " No stop!! " Romeo screamed from in the car. Lucy turned to him, Taiju passed her and hit the back window, Romeo was now bleeding from his head, unconscious. " Bad idea! Very very bad idea! " Natsu panicked. " I know, taiju isn't one to hold back. Not even on a girl " One man said. " No not that! It was a very bad idea to attack the kid!!! " He said.
